Lilith Fair brings Tegan and Sara and Brandi, oh my
Remember when we all dreamed out loud about who we’d like to see play the return of the new, resuscitated, femaletastic Lilith Fair next year? Well, looks like the music gods took note. The first roster of more than 40 artists was released today and joining festival founder Sarah McLachlan as headliners will be Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow, Tegan and Sara and Miranda Lambert among many others.

Joining Tegan and Sara are two other out lesbian acts: Brandi Carlile and Indigo Girls. We’re here, we’re queer, we sing really, really well.

The lineup features a diverse mix from pop (Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles, Colbie Caillat) to R&B (Janelle Monae, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu) to folk (Tara MacLean, Jennifer Knapp, The Weepies) to rock (Metric, A Fine Frenzy) to country (Sugarland, Emmylou Harris). It’s kind of like putting your iPod on estrogen shuffle.

The initial lineup includes, in alphabetical order: A Fine Frenzy, Ann Atomic, Ash Koley, Brandi Carlile, Butterfly Boucher, Chairlift, Chantal Kreviazuk, Colbie Caillat, Corinne Bailey Rae, Donna Delory, Emmylou Harris, Erykah Badu, Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, Ima, Indigo Girls, Ingrid Michaelson, Janelle Monae, Jennifer Knapp, Jill Hennessy, Jill Scott, Katzenjammer, Ke$ha, Mary J. Blige, Meaghan Smith, Metric, Miranda Lambert, Nneka, Sara Bareilles, Sarah McLachlan, Serena Ryder, Sheryl Crow, Sugarland, Susan Justice, Tara MacLean, Tegan and Sara, Vedera, Vita Chambers, The Submarines, The Weepies, Ximena Sarinana and Zee Avi.

No set dates have been announced yet, but the first round of cities are Atlanta, Boston, Calgary, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Montreal, New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington, D.C. and for you European ladies London. Check the Lilith Fair website for more updates.
So, what do you think of the lineup so far? Who would you like to see added? And, seriously, where do I get my ticket?

I hope to be there. And I hope to do more than simply the above. But, don't really expect it...
Sarah McLachlan, Brandi, A Fine Frenzy, Sheryl Crowe... isn't there a point at which two much awesome will just cause heads to EXPLODE?
Looks absolutely amazing
=O
I'm gonna be completely honest here....I'm opposed to this tour. 100% against it!
Why? CAUSE I DON'T THINK MY PEWNY BRAIN OR FRAGILE VJAY CAN HANDLE THE SEXINESS/AWESOMAZINGNESS OF THIS FUCKING LINE UP!!!!!!!

I saw Ingrid Michaelson a couple months ago and it was the fucking best thing I have ever seen in my life. Not that anyone here needs to be convinced to go, but seriously? seriously seriously. I want to be her best friend.

let's just pretend i said something constructive and intelligent.
me too
Hey,
I was at a show of Ingrid in November and it was SO great. The best concert I have ever seen/heard! She was so funny and there was not only this person standing at a stage and singing a few songs, it was interaction with the whole room!
BUT: I´m from Germany and have no idea what liltih fair is. I have an idea now, but is it only a tour and in every city play a few artists of the list, or is the whole bunch of singers there? And will there be a broadcast via TV or Internet for all can not going to a show?
Thanks a lot!
Lilith Fair Run Down!
It's a tour founded by Sarah McLachlan, and only features female solo artists/ female-led bands. There are three stages (main stage, second stage, and the village). It's generally a two day event so the lineup of artists and stages vary but everyone has a chance to play; Sarah McLachlan is usually the only performer to play on ALL the dates of the tour. I'm not sure if it'll be broadcasted on a live feed via internet (I would imagine they may do something in certain cities since everything is so technology related these days). I hope this helps you a little bit, and you will be able to see one of the shows- it's DEFNITELY worth it!!

eye candy galore!
this is music to my ears...
OMG OMG OMG
I MUST find a way to get to one of these shows! If only they would come to Australia!!!
this tour line-up is godly.
Immi
Oooh
That would make it perfect! Honestly though, I don't know if I could handle Tegan & Sara, Imogen Heap, Ingrid Michaelson, Brandi Carlile AND Sarah McLachlan all in one place. I think my head will explode. At least, I can't wait to see if it will! LA here I come! :D

ROFLOL what a great description!
Definitely have to see about going (for the first time), though it depends which people are in and out of the mix when it comes to my town.... can I put in my order for the New York stop now?!
Brandi Carlile, A Fine Frenzy, Emmylou Harris, The Weepies, Butterfly Boucher, Sarah McLachlan, Mary J. Blige, Tegan and Sara, Colbie Caillat, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Indigo Girls, Vita Chambers, Zee Avi
(the rest I don't know or can miss and there are loads I would add for the New York stop if they are looking for suggestions, LOL... like Joss Stone, Alicia Keys, Amy MacDonald, Norah Jones, Patty Griffin, Cyndi Lauper, Karren O singing songs from Where the Wild Things Are with the Kids, Sinéad O'Connor, Patti Smith, Sia, a surprise one time reunion of Sleater-Kinney, ... oh the list goes on and on.....)
holy crap
this lineup is stellar.
Emmylou Harris, Grace Potter, Janelle Monae, Tegan & Sara, Miranda Lambert... now all they need is Neko Case and it'll be complete. actually, how about the Gossip? or jenny lewis? or um, Lady Gaga?? a girl can dream...

Lady Gaga
my thoughts exactly
Serena Ryder and Tara MacLean - O Canada!!
How wonderful that Serena Ryder is on the bill! A little lady from Millbrook, Ontario who could fill Carnegie Hall with her voice! If you've never heard her, go here: www.myspace.com/serenaryder. For her acapella classic, "Sing, Sing", go here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBjuDWXtIBM. You'll be amazed.
Tara MacLean also is amazing - check her out with her former band, Shaye, at www.myspace.com/shayeband, or on her own at www.taramaclean.com
strong and free
I was indifferent on Serena Ryder until I saw her play live at the Juno Songwriter’s Circle. Just incredible. The video I took of her singing When the Truth Just Walks Away is my highest viewed vid on YouTube, the hits just keep racking up two years later. I’m convinced there’s a few dedicated people watching it repeatedly. Thousands upon thousands of times.
Shaye was a really underrated band. I wish they’d hit it bigger. Dahmnait Doyle is also really talented and so is Kim Stockwood (You Jerk...). Either of them could have a place on this tour too.
Great to see Sarah is keeping the Canadian element (T n S, Metric, Jill Hennessy who's from my city, Chantal Kreviazuk).
This is Such an EPIC Lineup
My jaw dropped when I saw that Lilth Fair was being revived. I was floored when I saw the linep. One word to describe this EPIC. Tegan and Sarah!! Tegan and Sarah!! Tegan and Sarah!! That alone would be enough. Also Brandi Carilsle, Indigo Girls, Sheryl Crowe, The Weepies, Colbie Calliat, and so many more. So many awesome womyn at one festival. EPIC!!
Somehow, some way, I have to get to this. If only I didn't have a job that would make it hard to get to this.

Holy *%!$#^!
Ahem
WANT!
And, seriously, where do I get my ticket?
My thoughts exactly! I will bend over backwards to go to the SF show! I'm such an at home Janelle Monae groupie. I decided a while ago that if I ever hear about her doing a show in my area I would be sure to get a ticket, but I never dreamed I'd be vying for a ticket to Lilith Fair and a chance to see all those amazing women.
Talk about a musical dream come true!
SQUEE!!!
I seriously squealed with delight when I saw the lineup earlier. My officemates looked at me like I was crazy. I showed them the lineup and they joined me in squealing. You mean I might get to see Jill Scott, Brandi Carlile & Emmylou Harris at one time. Not to mention everyone else in that group that I love. Can't wait till it comes to DC!! I need a moment...
JANELLE MONAE!?!?
I can think of only 2 things that would make this lineup better:
Some Zaki
and some Alicia.
But even without them, seriously, my head is exploding.
(With estrogen.)
I'm VERY tempted to shell out the bucks for tickets and airfare...
Awesome lineup!
Chantal Kreviazuk - Canucks Rule!
I need to renew my US
My personal Triumvirate!!!
Ummm......
I think I just lesbigasmed from all the amazingness. Like, what? I didn't know it was even possible to be this awesome.

I'm already down to go
But if they added Jenny Lewis, or Cat Power, I would die.
Also Gaga would be AMAZING.

Where is Sarah Bettens?
It would not be the same without her!!
So many favorites!
WHAT?!?!?
Sarah Mac
She's a genius at getting the Lilith Fair line ups together, and I'm sure she's still getting more to agree to the tour. Don't worry about it. :)
The 1998 tour had gobs and gobs of acts alone, and Sarah's never content with just a few (I guess we can consider 40 a "few"?).
I'm super excited for this, and dammit, it's overdue!! I'll probably have to fight like a jungle cat for Dallas tickets, but the rewards are well worth it!!
