Let's officially start the "Hire Cheno Now" campaign

If you caught this week’s episode of Glee, you understand why I am about to yell. If you didn’t well, you will soon. Hey, Hollywood, hire Kristin Chenoweth NOW!

Whew, glad I got that off of my chest. But, honestly, I do not understand why Kristin isn’t gainfully employed right now. The tiny powerhouse never fails to entertain and amaze. If you saw her Emmy acceptance speech and your heart didn’t melt, well, check for a pulse. Plus she made it abundantly clear in her Emmy speech that she was 1) unemployed and 2) would like to work on Mad Men, The Office or 24. Wake up, people. Don’t make her beg.

Well, if there is any television justice her performance this week on Glee will finally make the phones ring. As washed-up, boozed-up former Glee Club star April Rhodes, Kristin was magnificent. Sublime. Heartbreaking. But don’t take my word for it — take the glowing accolades from The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, People — I could go on.

Her dueling performance of “Maybe This Time” with Lea Michelle was the most thrilling three minutes of television that didn’t include a car chase or explosion in quite some time. In fact, her entire performance showcased the true power of Cheno. As April she was both loveable and despicable. Heartbreaking and a hoot. You cheered for her even when you knew she was teaching teens how to shoplift. You believed her even when you knew she couldn’t stay off the horse tranquilizers. And, of course, that voice.

I mean, just listen to her co-stars gush about her.

So, what’s it going to be, Hollywood? Put her on your shows. Give her her own show. Heck, bring her back to Glee. Something, anything — this woman needs to be in our living rooms on a regular basis. I’ll even crack open a new box of wine for the occasion.

Another Emmy for GLEE!

She was fantastic on GLEE -- that voice is flawless, she is an entertainment powerhouse! She needs her own show, NOW!

Oh, Cheno

It really astounds me that this woman is still so unappreciated by Hollywood. She is truly the whole package - beautiful, smart, funny and, of course, gay friendly! I know I'm biased, since I'm a huge Kristin fangirl, but I also know I'm not alone on this one. Her appearance on Glee was amazing, I'm still not over it. Loved "Maybe This Time" and  "Alone"!

I fully support this campaign, where should I sign?

Chenoweth

I absolutely adore this woman! Her rendition of Maybe This Time was so fantastic. I introduced my friend to Glee and even he was mesmerized by her.

Give Chenoweth her own show

No more cameos, and supporting roles for this women. She has the talent for her own show. Come on Hollywood, make it happen.

She did have her own show in

She did have her own show in 2001, but sadly it tanked. But I agree, she needs to be the star in something

I LOVE this woman.

Someone recently sent me a link to a video of Kristin Chenoweth performing 'Glitter & Be Gay' (from 'Candide', 2005 'Live On Broadway') and I have been obsessed with her awesomeness ever since, trawling YouTube for any Cheno scraps I can find.

I want to put her in my pocket and carry her everywhere with me as a lucky charm. (Hey, there's a pitch for a Cheno show right there!)

I love Glee

I was watching this week's episode with a bunch of friends and when Cheno came on, I was like "OMFGASDHGASDGH" *foaming at the mouth* and everyone else was like "Who the eff is Kristin Chenoweth?" I wanted to be like "Who is Kristin Chenoweth?!? Kill yourself!!" But I didn't say that. They wouldn't have gotten it.

But she seriously needs her own show. Or they need to make a Pushing Daisies movie instead of a comic book. Or she should just be Olive Snook for the rest of her life.

(Seriously, can I live in the Pushing Daisies universe where everyone sings and eats pies? Because that would make my life.)

I'd feel like slapping

I'd feel like slapping somebody if they didn't know who Kristin Chenoweth was. lol

I think my favorite character of hers has to be Olive Snook. So cute and funny and ooh when she sang 'Hopelessly Devoted To You' I fell in love with her all over again.

Hey can I join you in the Pushing Daisies universe too? Because pies are yummy and people coming back from the dead for a minute is kind of cool. Plus all those characters are all so fun, well in their own ways.

Same here!

When she sang 'Hopelessly Devoted to You,' I got hooked on the show. Also, I think my favorite tv moment ever was in the episode with Molly Shannon where Cheno was like "Don't make me cut a bitch." Hearing that come from a 4'11 tiny ball of amazingness, I almost lost it.

And there's always room for more in the Pushing Daisies world! Any world where Kristin Chenoweth does a chest bump with a burly black guy is a world that everyone should live in.

Of COURSE this had to be the one episode that I miss... I'll try to find a rerun, or look it up online.

I don't understand why she doesn't have a job.... She's so adorable! And she can REALLY sing!

Best article on the AE blog ever.

Hands down.

Let the campaign begin! Oh and for those of you on twitter, follow @kchenoweth if you don't already!

Don't argue with my superior wisdom, okay? -Dana Fairbanks <3

cheno now!

i saw her for the first time on conan. she sang the first few notes of 'o mio bambino' and i was HOOKED. loved her on pushing daisies and got chills during 'maybe this time'! omgosh. MORE CHENO.

loved her on Glee

okay, i didn't know who she was until the emmy speach and thought: 'that chick is funny.' i can't believe she had the stones to say that in such a public arena (but totally makes sense). She was awesome on Glee! when the episode ended, i was upset that she was leaving. She was brillant, funny, could sing. Even though she was "stealing their spot-light," she could have stayed on as something. I loved the scenes where she is tainting the innocent high schoolers. I love glee and Cheno should be a reoccurring character there.
Celina's picture

I love ChenChen...

I think she is one of the best people in the world. I also think she's kind of like perfect. If she doesn't get a job it's probably because Hollywood has it's head up it's butt. She is just such a great actress and performer.

Her characters in the begining can be kind of naughty but if they don't straighten out by the end I think a puppy dies. Because when Chenoweth portrays evil, evil then takes a puppy. It's sad but I think it's true.

Her speech that night made me all happy then sad and then I wanted to hug her. It was a great roll, Olive Snook and Pushing Daisies was such a great show. Maybe with the touch by a powerfull one it may live again. Hey Dead Like Me got its movie.

whiteviolet's picture

I love her!

Not only do I love, love Kristin, but she sang one of my favorite numbers from Cabaret AND one of my favorite Heart songs... OMG! I loved the fact she sang in her lower register. She is known for her AMAZING high notes, but I love it when she sings in the lower register of her voice... So seductive & sexy! The belted high note, from her head voice at that, at the end of "Maybe This Time" was just icing on the cake. That woman can belt her a** off! If her voice was the only thing, she would be wonderful, but she's funny as hell. I wish they would make her a permanent cast member.

This show is turning into a Broadway fanatic's wet dream! If they bring on Sutton Foster, Shoshana Bean, or Idina Menzel as a guest star, I might die from shear happiness.

Totally amazing!

I was super excited to see that she was guesting on Glee. It was like too much awesome for the tv. Kristin did have her own tv show at one time. Apparently the US just wasn't ready for her greatness. I don't think it even got a full season.

I hope she gets a gig somewhere. I will watch her in anything.

Frickin' Love Cheno

She is ridiculously talented. I cannot even begin to describe how excited I was when I put on Glee and she appeared. I have been telling my friends non-stop to catch up with the show just for that episode. Somebody needs to give her a new job now, she brightens the world. Alternatively give me back my Pushing Daisies and I'll call it even.

Love the Cheno

I'm so glad to see so many lovers of the brilliant Cheno!!  I went through an obsessed phase around age 18 but I've calmed down to just being a healthy fan/supporter. I feel like she is one of the most universally talented women of our time, but she signs onto projects that are GREAT but end too soon.  If they tried to give her her own show again, they'd have to really prove that it could last...because her Sitcom FAILED and the writing was just awful.

I have a feeling I'll be slightly bummed out every time I turn on Glee and she's not on.  She belongs on that show!!

Her book "A Little Bit Wicked" is probably the most adorably charming book you'll read this year, by the way!
