Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning find their inner rockstars for "The Runaways"
Some movies you hope will be good. Other movies you hold your breath and pray will kick ass. The Runaways is definitely the latter. The film based on the real-life, real awesome seminal all-girl band has released its first official image. From the looks of things perhaps we can finally breathe a little easier. Also, um, damn.
Yes, that’s Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie and Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett. Yes, they look fantastic. Yes, I am now having difficulty breathing for an entirely different reason. Earlier this month it was announced that The Runaways (formerly Cherry Bomb) would premiere Jan. 24 at the Sundance Film Festival. This week the film was picked up for U.S. distribution and will be release in theaters March 19.
The film, based on the biography Neon Angel: the Cherie Currie Story, follows the teen friendship of guitarist Jett and singer Currie, who went on to form The Runaways. And, yes, that long-rumored kiss between Dakota and Kristen is real. Dakota told Access Hollywood last month that “Yes, it happens in The Runaways” and it is a passionate kiss. She added: “They’re best friends in the film and we've became really close in real life. And that’s something that went down back in the ‘70s.” That sort of stuff goes down right now, too, Dakota.
Rounding out The Runaways are Stella Maeve (as Sandy West), Scout Taylor-Compton (as Lita Ford) and Whip It's Alia Shawkat (as fictitious bassist Robin). Those who have watched the film develop from concept to casting to filming and beyond should, if nothing else, happy with the look of the film. Meticulous detail was paid to making sure the original Runaways look like the new Runaways.

Particularly dramatic is Kristen’s transformation from Bella to rocker chick. I prefer rocker chick — a lot.
So, what do you think? Hot girls. Guitars. Kissing. I definitely want to dance to that rock and roll station.

I am really looking forward to this! Kristen Stewart and Dakata Fanning are both great as child actors (I havn't seen Twillight) so I am hopefull that is nothing else the acting will be brilliant!

That quote from Dakota has
That quote from Dakota has been snipped apart so many times that it isn't completely accurate. It was taken from a video, and she never herself said "it's passionate" that was in the question from the interviewer, although she did answer "yes" to if it was. Also the part about "close in real life" if you listen to the video, she actually says, "and WE've become close in real life." It was referring to her and Kristen, not Joan and Cherie. Also, I'm fairly certain by "that's something that went down in the 70s" she meant not girls kissing, but Joan and Cherie kissing. Since Joan was a huge part of the production and she made no effort to get that particular scene out of the script (which I'm sure she had the power to do) that means there probably was something between her and Cherie (not to mention Cherie wrote about it in her book).
I have no doubt the movie will be good. Yes, Dakota's still young, but honestly she's a better actress than a lot of people twice (or more) her age. And Kristen is maybe not the best actress in the world, but I think the role of Joan is much better suited to her personality than the other roles she has taken lately. I think people should stop being so hard on them and wait to see the movie before passing judgement on it, and on Kristen and Dakota.

Sorry, I didn't notice you had the link in there. My rant is actually more in general, I've read so many articles requoting Dakota to the point that what she actually said gets distorted. Even the original source misquoted her when they wrote the article based on the video.
But my point wasn't really about that, it was I don't think people (not specifically you, just those who have been skeptical/critical of it so far) should write the movie/them off before we've even seen anything from it.
