Katee Sackhoff goes in for a "Nip/Tuck"Are you ready for Dr. Starbuck? Battlestar Galactica veteran Katee Sackhoff has signed on as a recurring character in the sixth season of Nip/Tuck. She will play Dr. Theodora “Teddy” Lowe, a new doctor who challenges Dylan Walsh’s character Sean.
"Teddy?" Well, it’s good to see she hasn’t lost her affinity for nicknames. But, once again, I fear Katee is starring in a series below her abilities. Her guest turn as the charismatic crazy/crazy charismatic Sarah Corvus was the best thing about Bionic Woman. Well, that and Michelle Ryan’s one-armed pull-ups.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katee will appear in four episodes. Not much else has been released about the role. Now, I won’t lie, I’m not too fond of Nip/Tuck; I’ve tried and tried. In its earlier seasons its audacity was fun, but as the series has dragged on, it became less fun more freaking ridiculous.
I’ve given the show more than a fair shake recently: I watched for Portia de Rossi and I watched for Rosie O’Donnell. But, in the end, even they weren’t enough to keep me watching. So can Katee change that? Probably not. But four episodes isn’t too many, so maybe I can tough it out.
Also, with a commitment for only four episodes so far maybe she can land a better, less ludicrous series. I still can’t believe she didn’t land the role as Jorja Fox’s replacement on CSI. Though the “crispay” soup chef Lauren Lee Smith is certainly a worthy alternative.
So, are you excited about Katee’s appearance on Nip/Tuck? Or is there another show you’d like to see her join? Dream big, ladies, dream big. Submitted by on May 21, 2008 - 5:00pm. |

Well..
Argh!
I'm not a big fan of Nip/Tuck... for me it's sort of painful to watch all the narcissism of the characters, in particular that of Dr. Troy... yet I continued to watch, as if I was driving by the scene of an accident and out of morbid curiosity just had to stop, crane my head and stare at the whole disaster!
The saddest thing is that I was a big fan of Ryan Murphy's other series Popular!
The women's roles on the show aren't exactly feminist powerhouses either; when they aren't there to please the men on the show then they're barely even there. I wanted to be happy about the lesbian characters on the show, but the direction of the storylines in which they were involved also ended up ruining the whole thing for me.
I'm not sure that even Katee Sackhoff herself can make me enjoy Nip/Tuck.
(Self Appointed) "#1 Bridget McManus Fan"
i'm not sold...
well . . .
ER!
Mmmm, Katee...
*Cough...Guys dream big too...Cough*
While I was seriously disappointed with the Jerry Bruckheimer execs for passing up on Katee...I have moved on; and calmed down...I'm thrilled that Katee's doing this show...While; I personally haven't watched the show since Season 3; I do know that "Nip/Tuck" gets tremendeous publicity; and, I love the thought of people outside her fanbase getting to know the wonder of Katee Sackhoff.
As for which show would I like to see her own...No brainer:
"Heroes"!!!!!!
Really?
Easy choice here...
Katee really should be on Torchwood and/or Doctor Who...
I'd like to see Katee gueststar on Torchwood and/or Doctor Who as a time agent. She'd simply be perfect as a time traveller from the 51st century (and on top of everything the character would most likely be bisexual since it's been established that in the Doctor Who universe bisexuality is norm in the 51st century).
They've already had James Marsters play one time agent... so if they're looking for another big name to play another equally cool character then I hope they consider Katee.
Cherry / Torchwood_Operative
Oh no!
I cannot believe one of my favourite actors is going to play in such a crap show.
Not even someone as lovely as Katee Sackhoff can make me watch Nip/Tuck.
What show should Katee join? A good one.

-Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.
Who doesn't blog these days?
Worth the watch
I'm with everyone here too- I'm not a fan of Nip/Tuck but I think Katee Sackoff is so awesome I'll watch the show for her. I can't believe it's limited to 4 episodes- I am surprised that a show has not snatched her up after the awesome job she did on Bionic Woman.

I love Nip/Tuck
Every time I try to leave, they pull me back in
Nip/Tuck makes me feel like Al Pacino trying to leave the mafia in The Godfather..."Every time I try to leave, they pull me back in".
I got addicted during the first 2 seasons, after the Carver reveal season 3 finale I was ticked off (incestuous brother-sister serial slashers who just had to be bisexual??), but kept watching through Season 4, because what else was on? At the end of Season 4 when they moved from Miami to LA, I was going to finally stop watching it, since the Miami locale was one of the main reasons I started watching in the first place (I'm from near Miami myself). Then After Ellen broadcast about the whole Olivia-Julia plotline, so I stayed with it. After the last season was so bad I was going to finally stop watching it, and then they bring in Katee Sackhoff.
Katee!
I loved her in Bionic Woman!! I think she should have a recurring role in something like Bones as it's similar to CSI (which she should have gotten anyway!), but has a better character-based plot-line. Though I totally agree she should come over to the UK and be part of Torchwwod for a few episodes, it'd really rock the boat!!
So, Bones or Torchwood would suit her well!!!
It's All About The Guest Stars
Loving Nip/Tuck can be abusive at times as the stories and characters pull you, make you care about them and then they stomp on you. They are characters that you love to hate.
Sometimes it makes me ill the way women are portrayed on this show, I want to change the channel. Then a moment later we have characters like Liz and Dawn Budge that snap those guys back in place.
Every single one of the characters is flawed much like the real world. A lot of times the show just makes me feel better about myself. It's just packed full of self loathing and narcissism.
Honestly I stopped watching this season when Julia slept with Christian, it was just too much. However, I still TiVo it and once the waves of nausea pass I will watch the remaining episodes.
There are aspects of this show that keep me coming back. Let's face it, there are some amazing performances from the cast and guest stars. The dialogue has wit and substance.
Check out the guest stars over the years. You know that most of these actors would never lend their name to something that was not top drawer. So for those of you that are on the fence about the show or have never seen it before, take note.
Guest stars: Famke Janssen, Alec Baldwin, Doug Savant, Melissa Gilbert, Peter Dinklage, Jacqueline Bisset, Kathy Baker, Anne Heche, Portia, Oliver Platt, Sharon Gless, Lauren Hutton, Daphne Zuniga, Brook Shields, Alanis Morisette, Larry Hagman, Brittany Snow, Kathleen Turner, Aisha Tyler, Richard Chamberlain, Catherine Deneuve, and Vanessa Redgrave to name a few.
Fun facts, Joley Richardson who plays Julia is the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave and Both Anne Heche and Portia have been on the show at one time. It's a potpourri of Ellen's past and present relationships.
Good luck Katee, I hope you blow them away!
Sorry, but "Nip/Tuck" sucks...
I really liked the first two seasons, but once Famke Janssen left, so did the quality of the show in general. The most recent storyline involving Sharon Gless as a crazed stalker/would be agent who stabs Sean and leaves him for dead was beyond ludicrous. I hope Portia DeRossi and Katee Sackhoff find better acting jobs than "Nip/Tuck". They are both good actresses and deserve better than this sexist, ageist piece of crap.
if i could cast Katee . . .
Dollhouse anyone? cuz Joss writes the best parts for complicated, strong women.
Would have preferred to see her on CSI
I was so excited when I found out that Katee Sackhoff was supposed to appear on CSI, because I pretty much stopped watching that show after Jorja Fox's departure. But then something went awry and alas, it wasn't to be.
So while I'm happy for her new gig, I'm not very likely to watch Nip/Tuck because of her, as there are simply too many characters that I find highly irritating on that show...
