Jane Lynch, Lily Tomlin, Toni Collette and Archie Panjabi among Emmy nominees

Sometimes, you feel like kissing the Emmys right on the mouth. Sometimes, you want to slap them right on the kisser instead. This year, aside for a few scowl-worthy decisions, the smack the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will be the big wet, sloppy kind. Nominations were announced this morning and among the honorees were Jane Lynch, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Archie Panjabi, Chris Colfer and Betty freaking White.

A host of new and returning series felt the Emmy love including first-timers Glee, Modern Familyand The Good Wifeas well as veteran favorites 30 Rock, True Bloodand Lost. Out gay actors receiving nods included Lynch, Colfer, Neil Patrick Harris, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming and Lily Tomlin. Leading the way with 19 nominations was all-singing, all-dancing phenomena Glee. Don’t stop believing, indeed.
