"I Can't Think Straight" keeps its promiseTalk about your truth in advertising. The poster for the new lesbian film I Can't Think Straight indeed has just that effect on a gal. Hello.
International filmmaker and novelist Shamim Sarif, who previously wrote and directed the lesbian drama The World Unseen, helms this story of two women from different backgrounds who fall in love and then must reconcile their relationship with traditional expectations. Lisa Ray (The World Unseen and Water) and Sheetal Sheth (also from The World Unseen and Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World) play the opposites who attract — and do so quite attractively, I might add. Lisa Ray and Sheetal Sheth Lisa is Tala, a London-based Palestinian, who is getting ready for her elaborate wedding in Jordan when she meets Sheetal's Leyla, a young British Indian woman. Tala is Christian, Leyla is Muslim. Tala is outgoing, Leyla is shy. You can see where this is going. And if not, let the new trailer explain. I Can't Think Straight opens in New York and Los Angeles Nov. 21. For more on the movie visit its official website. And, trust me, after seeing all of the promos and photos, no one will be thinking even remotely straight.

Oh, pretty...
i saw this movie recently at
Typicall
That is so typicall. The World Unseen didn't even show up in our theaters (planned by january, 8th), as you can watch the directors second film already. Great!
The film itself sound nice to me, but remembers me of Imagine Me & You, don't you think? If the story of the film is as good as the actual book The World Unseen, than it sure will be huge.
Both movies are released two weeks apart
Both movie are released two weeks apart so most likely you haven't missed anything.
Guess, you are referring to American theaters
Your release dates counting for America, right? I was talking about Europe (and especially about Germany). As I was saying, The World Unseen will be in theaters at january 8th. And I can't think straight might be shown at march 26th.
So as I was saying: You guys get to see both films before we even can think about buying the tickets (and popcorn) to watch them here. That is, what upsets me everytime.
I thought exactly the same
I thought exactly the same !
But if the story ends like in IMAY - the cuttest "lesbian" movie ever ! - I'll definitely find a way to watch it ! :-)
London release?
I really can't wait to see this movie, but there's no information on the London release date.
This promo doesn't do the hotness factor of this movie justice...nope..nowhere close...just check this out instead :

No problem
Glad to share that with the world lol

There was a screening at the BFI LGBT festival (london) this year for Shamim Sarif's other movie starring the same two actresses called 'The World Unseen' but i don't know if 'I Can't Think Straight' has been promoted at any film festivals before.
And i agree with the other british posters....this movie is a british one, and i'm sure there is enough of an audience here, at least in london, for the movie to do well at whatever scale they choose to release it. So i don't see why there aren't any plans for cinematic release here soon.

London release, please!
Yeah, here's another one hoping for a London release :-)
***** ***** *****
Taking off - the novel, coming soon. Starring Katie, a lesbian in London...
In the meanwhile, you can read reviews of films and books with lesbian/bi characters and/or taking place in London at www.takingoff.org
nice...
really nice!
Definately
If it does come to the UK,
If it does come to the UK, it will probably be in 'select cinemas'. Imagine Me And You didn't come anywhere near me, I had to wait for the DVD.
Looks like a sweet movie though, I'd definitely buy it. Layla is the cutest, I could just eat her up... erm... yeah...
don't hold your breath
i'll withold any comment on the film, but can say the below.
normally it works like this - because Regent is releasing it (associated with here!), that means it will come out for one weekend to qualify for international distribution, then goes straight to dvd. unless by some miracle every screening is sold out and it plays to a non-gay audience as well.
but the former has been more typical, so you'll be able to get to see it soon enough in the comfort of your own home.
Here's what gets me, the
Completely agree with you
I heard about this movie months ago,
read the world unseen and waited and waitd for that movie and it never materialised!
Fingers x'd they both come out in the UK!!!
looking fwd to watching them both!!
.
CAN'T. WAIT.
I can't think straight
I can't wait to OWN this movie.. AH! Movie night! <3
I love it already..

Two things:1)The poster.
Two things:
1)The poster. Ug. Did they photoshop a poster from the L Word, or from Sex and the City? Seriously people, its called creativity. And the title? "I Can't Even think straight?!" Honestly. Honestly.
2)The trailer looks pretty good. A little cliched, but that's not gonna stop me from watching probably the only lesbian film of the year. It's funny, because I used to think I hated "chick flicks" which I guess translates to "romantic comedies" for the most part. Wrong. I hate romantic comedies when they're full of straight people! After I watched Imagine Me and You I was like OHHHHHH, so that's why my mom loves The Holiday and all those movies starring Hugh Grant. NOW I get it! I'm a sappy romantic too, but only for the ladies.
I agree the poster is
I agree the poster is totally overdone. I mean the women are beautiful but that's precisely why they could have had them looking a liiittle more natural (sans all the heavy make-up?). It would have actually improved the poster.
The title is cute imo. "I Can't Think Straight" -- that's pretty funny.
th1thonly has said all I
But nonetheless, I can't wait for this like everyone else has also said,
as if my picture never said it all.
wait a sec
this movie sounds really cool and it looks SO hot but dosen't it remind you of the movie Imagine Me & You with lena headey and piper perabo?
don't get me wrong i'm going to see it but still.
Leyla fracking sexy!!!!!
neither can I
this looks good! it looks kind of like "imagine me and you" but with an english accent...oh wait....
it looks hot! i'm crossing my fingers for a chicago date!
yeah it reminded me of the L word too...
... and "imagine me and you" but it seems more serious than IMAY.
can't wait to see it.
Lisa Ray/Tala is H.O.T.
"She's what?... But some of my bestfriends are LEBANESE...!" -- LOL!
The movie looks good but the
Does anyone know if this
Does anyone know if this movie is goin to be released in Australia?
I want to see it so bad!!!

looks interesting!
Definitely intrigued! I'd really like to see this one.
p.s. loved the last line! :D
World premiere in Hamburg
Actually, the world premiere of this film is going to be tomorrow in Hamburg (Germany) as the closing film of the International Gay & Lesbian film festival. It is completely sold out already, but any Germans here who live near Hamburg could still try to get tickets in the cinema, as some might be returned.
I am REALLY looking forward to this! Tonight the film festival is showing The World Unseen, to which I am also really looking forward.
uuhaa
Hopefully the movie is less overdone than the poster
I like the design they have on their website. Sigh.
I've been anticipating this movie for months now. I've watched the trailer at least twenty times. In fact, I watch the trailer just to make myself feel happy. It still gives me butterflies to watch them kiss.
I don't think this will be quite like IM&Y in its plot and execution. I have a feeling Sharif will have delved into the difficulties each woman must go through. It will not be a cakewalk, but it will be worth it.
I can't wait to buy this and the World Unseen. I'm thinking about buying the two books of the same name before, though.
The original trailer is beyond addictive
I've lost count of how many times I've seen it.
Somebody stop me. Seriously.
Can't stop watching the trailer.
Especially the juicier one. =) Must pull myself away from the computer.
Very nice trailer. Looks a bit like IMAY, but do I care? No, not really. I'm going to try to watch it in November when it comes out. I'm so glad that I live near a city where it's going to premiere. (Anyone going to watch it in San Francisco)
The trailer for The World Unseen is intriguing. I'm a little intimidated by the concept of the movie, 'cause I don't want to feel all sad after watching the movie. Romantic Comedies for the win.
Yeah it'd be cool to have
I wished they kept the original trailer
I wished they kept the original trailer. It's fun, cute, romantic. The new official trailer is just too serious and straight forward.
The poster is indeed a mock-up version of The L Word. Even Sheetal looks quite like Papi!
From a few sneak peak scenes, the supporting cast is a bit of concern. They overact a little bit.
That said, I'm hoping that the movie will get a wide release and I'm definitely gonna see it.

I'm sold so where can I see it?
omg the original trailer
i don't think i've ever seen such a good trailer. The music for it was fantastic: Goldfrapp: A & E. And Feist: 1234. It complimented the trailer so well and has made me addicted. WHEN IS THE MOVIE COMING TO LONDON???????????????????????????????????

I know trailers can be deceiving but..
Wow!
I am so seeing this movie. Even though it most definitely won't come to my country, I'll buy it, because that trailer made me all excited ^^
Now there's only the feeling of: "Can time go by ANY slower? I want to see it now!" xD haha.
