"House" mini-cap: Head games and stripper polesStripper Cuddy! Stripper Cuddy!! Stripper Cuddy!!! There, now that we have that out of the way, we can begin this week's House mini-recap. Stripper Cuddy! Oops, sorry, guess there was one more left in there. Part one of the two-part season finale, “House's Head,” gave us the aforementioned stripper Cuddy, a horrific bus crash, retrograde amnesia, Thirteen's real name and one whopper of a plot twist. All in all, it was a-freaking-mazing.
The penultimate episode opened in, naturally, a strip club. A disoriented House watched a dancer do her thing, but realizes something is amiss. He can't remember how he got to the club. He can't remember what he did before he got to the club. And he can't remember why he is bleeding. Wow, I hate that when that happens.
But this isn't just a booze-fueled bender for Dr. Vicodin. This is major head trauma from a bus crash. Why was he on the bus? Why is House's first inclination after leaving an accident scene to get a lap dance? (Oh, wait, this is House.) But, most importantly, why does House think someone on the bus is dying (and not from crash injuries)? Those questions and the rest raised in last night's episode cut to the core of what makes me love this show. It is, at the bottom of its ink-black heart, a mystery. House is a whodunit, but the “who” is a disease instead of a murderer. Episodes don't get more mysterious than “House's Head.”
As House tries to piece back together the four hours he lost and find the dying patient, we learn that his bump on the head is much worse. I could give you the precise medical terminology, but pretty much he has broken his brain, as in blood dripping out of his ear broken. His team worries that he can't remember their names when he calls Thirteen (Olivia Wilde) “Lesbian” the first time he sees her.
As funny as that sequence was, how about the writers give us more than one throwaway line about Thirteen's sexuality each episode? We're tired of breadcrumbs. Bring on the sandwich.
But back to the drama. Cuddy wants him to rest his cracked noggin. House being House, he doesn't let a little brain damage stop him from his diagnosis. To unlock the information trapped in his head, he puts himself in varying altered states. First via hypnosis (by Chase no less — hello, boundary issues). Then via scent (and a boatload of Vicodin). Then via sensory deprivation. Then via old-fashioned sleep. And finally, via Alzheimer's medication. It's during one of these hallucinatory states that we get what is, without a doubt, the most awesome House sequence in the show's four-year history. Let me set the stage for you: Lisa Edelstein. A schoolgirl outfit. A stripper pole. White panties. These are the scenes rewind buttons were made for.
But more than just prurient entertainment, the striptease also showed us something very interesting about House. Sure, he likes sex. And, yes, he lusts after Cuddy. But for House it's really all about the puzzle. Sadly for the viewers (and happily for Fox censors), this means fantasy Cuddy snaps out of her dance when she realizes it isn't helping House solve the mystery.
As the dream sequences continue, a beautiful mystery woman keeps appearing (Ivana Milicevic, who throughout the episode I kept trying to place. Let me help if you were too — Casino Royale; Ugly Betty; Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where she played Riley's wife). She is “The Answer” House is seeking. Also, what's that necklace she is wearing made of? House zeroes in on the bus driver who is getting progressively worse. House's epiphany moment comes when he sees the guy's shiny new dental work. An air bubble from his oral surgery has made its to his heart. The hobbled doctor commits his 4,749,582nd hospital policy violation by locking himself and Thirteen into the room to jab a needle into the guy's heart. As Cuddy and company try to stop the procedure we learn, at long last, Thirteen's name — Dr. Hadley. Cuddy keeps screaming it to get her to open the door.
But just when you think the case is solved, oh how the plot thickens. The bus driver wasn't, after all, the dying patient House couldn't remember. And that necklace around The Answer's neck? It's made of amber. Yep, the mystery patient was Amber. She was on the bus with House and horribly injured in the crash. Regardless, she's dying. I think that might be one of the best House episodes I've ever seen. And we still have one more left. So, what did you think? Did you see the plot twist coming? Do you like Thirteen's name? Do you think you'll ever be able to reattach your jaw after it hit the ground during Cuddy's stripper dance? Discuss. Submitted by on May 13, 2008 - 11:00am. |

This was an explosive episode!
So much happening! Twists and turns! I loved it! I only figured out the answer a few seconds before House did when the girl said, "What's my necklace made of?" I also liked that scene when everybody was on the bus because it was one of the few moments where all the cast members (old and new) were in one place!

Cuddy!
I have had a thing for Lisa Edelstein for years. She has to be one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. Sweet, holy, crap... I was blown away by the stripper pole action. I'm not too much into school girls....she could have done the same dance in a pantsuit and still had me cold. That woman is greatness.
the rest of the show was good. I agree 13 should date. 13 and Cameron would be interesting. 13 and Cuddy would make my head explode.
Wow
Great episode! I think Thirteen's name is Remy Hadley. It was briefly visible on a piece of paper early in the season, when the doctors were placing bets for something.
No, my jaw isn't leaving the floor anytime soon... and who says there's no place for women over 40 in Hollywood?
Yup, Thirteen's real name is
Man do some people need
Man do some people need lives!!
(you know, like me, for immediately following the link.)
Cuddy's dance...was AMAZING!
Cuddy's dance...was AMAZING! I don't blame house for being distracted, lord knows I was too. And I was really surprised about how far they took it. the woman had her bra straps unclasped and was barely holding her bra to her chest. All i could think was go Lisa Edelstein! on behalf of women who love women everywhere, thank you for just fearlessly working it!
And thanks for the placement of the mysterious women. That was driving me crazy!
I thought overall the episode was one of the better ones the whole season. It feels more like the House of old with all the characters back to together and not such a heavy focus on the new interns. (except if they wanna focus more on thirteen/Dr. Hadley I would more than welcome it!).
What I think is interesting is the previews for next week about why House was on the bus with Amber. POTENTIAL SPOILER. was it because they were having an affair? I want to believe that he wouldn't do that to Wilson because he does have some ethics, but at the same time a) its House and b) he could totally justify it to himself by saying he was just testing Amber's loyalty to Wilson. Either way, I hope they don't get rid of her because I love her character, she's really good for wilson and she pisses House off in the funniest ways.
Amazing!
This episode was amazing! I normally know there's all the crazy twist and turns, but Amber?! Oh goodness..Wonder what House and Amber were up to before the crash happened. I loooved that one part when House called 13, Lesbian. I couldn't stop laughing~
Thirteen: He just forgot mine.
House: No, Thirteen. I just wanted to call you a lesbian.
Thirteen: I'm not a lesbian.
House: I was rounding up from 50 percent.
Oh why oh why can't Cameron and 13 hook up. It would be a dream come true <3
And the whole Cuddy as a stripper..Can we say hot, or what?!
In case you're like me...
And forget to set the DVR for these things: House's Head so you can watch the pole dancing for yourself (and everything else too).
stripper cuddy.
i cant get over that. did anyone els get... chills with tensing muscles? cause i sure did. body and brains, she's fucken beautiful!
i love 13 too, but do you think Hadly is first or last name? im assuming its her last. i wanna know her first.
Cuddy and Hadly should hook it up.
this was most deff one of the best episodes ever.
So I already thought Cuddy
So I already thought Cuddy was the sex when she had all her clothes on (pencil skirts anyone?).
But when I saw them coming off... OMFG!!!
I think my screen melted. Or maybe it was my brain. I have never loved having HDTV this much until FOX network gifted me with a close up shot of Lisa Edelstein's ruffle panty covered derriere shaking its way down a stripper pole.
Oh, and the rest of the episode was good too. Really good in fact. Actually it was pretty amazing. But honestly I'm not sure how next week's episode can top Cuddy in a school girl outfit and stripper heels twirling around a pole.
Well maybe if it was Cuddy, Doc Hadley, Cameron and Amber on that pole...
OMG
I'm drooling over that pic of Cuddy man!

HOT !
Cuddy's dance was hot, really hot !!!
Nice to finally know 13's last name ^^
This episode was one of the best ever. Can't wait to know if Amber is going to die or not and know what she was doing in the bus with House
great episode
This episode was in-freaking-credible! I loved it! Clearly the best episode ever! Not only because of stripper cuddy ;-)
goosebumps!!!!!
Augh..
.. trying to place Ivana Milicevic, was driving me -batshit-.. thanks SOOO much for identifying her. Who knows how long my cerebral hamster would have spun around in it's wheel before it popped out 'Sam from Buffy'. :oP
I loved this episode, though i will admit to being a -wee- traumatized the first time i saw Cuddy in that outfit. I had a 'My Eyes, My Eyes' bunny moment,..it was just so OOC, kinda like watching a nun strip off her habit to suntan on the beach. No matter how hot that nun is.. she's still a nun. lol.
However, it was a short ride from 'My Eyes!' to 'DAMN..!!!!!'. She's got a -smokin- body. :o)
Poor Wilson.. I really hope Amber pulls through.
INTENSE!
I keep missing the show!
And what a show to miss! But now I am convinced that my want of Cuddy and Thirteen to couple is the right choice!
I loved Ivana Milicevic in Love Monkey.
Thankfully, the USA network repeats these eppies on Fridays at 11 PM EST...so I am setting the machine to do what I bought it for! :)
Love this season.
I know a lot of people were up in arms about the cast shakeup, but I think it's been great for the show (I only wish Cameron was the one still with the team, instead of Foreman...). Last night's episode was definitely one of the best ever, and I think this season overall has been consistently better than last season. It's the only I show I really really missed when the strike cut into the schedule.
Also Cuddy's dance was amazing. I kept hoping he'd fantasize about her and Thirteen dancing together (hey, it IS sweeps), but Cuddy on her own is just fine by me.
I love the show, but last
lesbian without borders
Stripper Cuddy = <3 <3 <3
"Lisa Edelstein. A schoolgirl outfit. A stripper pole. White panties." - I Love smart women with Talent!
...is it just me, or is she better-than-average at it? Either she practiced a LOT, or Lisa/Cuddy has a very 'interesting' private life!
13? *sigh*
I wonder what wonders next weeks brings.....and how many re-takes did Lisa do? And are copies of the out-takes available? ;-P
Is anyone else feeling all tingly and funny........down there?
Lisa Edelstein definitely
Only good ep. of the season...
Frankly, I found all of the episodes on this season just a lil under par for house. Too much about House manipulating people for reasons that were just counterproductive and sometimes comflicting (he would do things to scare the contestants and then things to make them less scared for various reasons... blech). The diseases also got less interesting and nothing was all that intense for me.
I dont like 13's name lol Hadley? It just doesnt... have any "oomph" if that makes sense lol Foreman, Chase, Cameron, House, Wilson, they all kinda flow. But oh well, it doesnt matter.
This episode was the only intense one of the season and reminded me why I ever started watching this show. It was intense, it twisted and turned and I love the uniqueness of it. I especially love going into House's head. Was it the best episode? HELL NO lol I say the best are caught between
"3 Stories" (House tells of three patients, one of em turning out to be Him),
"Euphoria" (Foreman was EXCELLENT, waiting for part 2 was TORTURE lol) and
"No Reason" When House gets shot... and well, no spoiler here).
Those were House Classics to me, fantastic episodes that made me hate commercial interuptions. This was the best of the season though, And I figured out Amber the minute she asked what was her necklace made of :D

I have to agree...
In many ways, I agree with you, House isn't what it used to be - and you picked a GREAT 'Top 3'! I think part of the change was the writers' strike, plus the main characters are 'established' by now - and I wouldn't say it's gotten worse, I'd call it changed - from a Medical Mystery Show, with a character study as a framework, to a Character Show with medical stories woven in - almost a prime-time soap opera. "ER" did something similar, as did "Grey's Anatomy" - plus they're running out of the best 'Medical Mysteries'! =)
I'll keep watching, though!
See, I dont mind the
See, I dont mind the character development, so long as it goes somewhere. Frankly, the development of 13 and her colleagues was ok, only because we didnt know them well enough and we were curious. But when it comes to House, Cuddy, etc the more established characters, there's very little offered. Its getting repetitive.
And I agree, the writer's strike has made an impact, I didnt get to see how they would develop things (usually like 20 eps in a season). So far, this was the best of the season. I'll still watch the series, until it the writing flops. When there is no longer any intelligent or witty banter, if the plot is gone, then I'll stop. I gave up with CSI that way lol
lmao I totally love the 13 name, but at the same time it makes me cringe. Inner feminist and all, doesnt like having a human being dehumanized into a number (lil thing called the holocaust....) So its a bit conflicting lol
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.
More 13!
I truly enjoyed this episode, and I haven't been a longtime "House" fan at all. I never got into the show but when I saw this episode I couldn't help but watch. It sure was one hell of an episode to tune in to! It has me hooked and has made me into a new fan.
As for 13, like the title says, GIVE ME MORE! I agree, I am not really into her name, she doesn't seem like a Remy Hadley. I'll keep with 13 because I still want the mystery and mystique because I'd rather have something to imagine, give her the name I think better suits her in my own mind. I'm interested in seeing her whole character development as Olivia Wilde is one of the best additions to any show.

*thunk*
Excuse me while I pass out from that stripper routine :D
Seriously, this was one of the finest hours on television if you ask me and certainly one of the best episodes in House's history. I did not see it coming, I'll admit it. I really didn't. And I loved every second of it.
Cuddy? Best.stripper.ever :D
I am also kind of getting tired of the throw away lines about 13's sexuality. Come on, do something about it or drop it. I'm actually predicting they'll eventually hook her up with one of the male team members, but hey, I wouldn't mind some 13/Cuddy scenes ;)
Lisa - Oh My...
good point!!
Ohhhhh Cuddy!
Do you think you'll ever be able to reattach your jaw after it hit the ground during Cuddy's stripper dance?
Nope.
That was more than I could ever have dreamt of House's creators giving us!!!
Oh and 13 and Cuddy?? OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cuddy + strip tease...
Cutthroat Bitch!!!
..... Spoilery if you haven't seen it yet!!!!!
*sneefle* You knew it was coming but gawd that was sad.
And 13? Well, I guess you really can't be happy, healthly, and bi on tv. *grrrr*
