Harry Potter goes from dark to light in the new trailerWith the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince still more than eight months away, fans are searching for a patience spell until the movie finally starts showing in a theater near you. Over the weekend, the international teaser trailer gave Muggles everywhere a taste to help tide them over. So go ahead and put away the wand, Hermione. Maybe we'll be able to hold out until July without using magic.
The trailer for the sixth installment is darker and more action-packed than the first American trailer released over the summer. The spot includes new footage and many ominous overtones. Things go from dark and creepy to light and kissy in just a minute and a half. We see He-Who-Must-Not -Be-Named, Death Eaters and Bellatrix Lestrange. We also see Ron Weasley getting a smooch from Lavender Brown and Harry Potter getting a smack (relax, on the head) from Hermione Granger. Though,“The Chosen One"? Since when was this The Matrix?
So, what did you think? And, most important, will it hold you until — gulp — July 17? Discuss. Submitted by on October 28, 2008 - 12:30pm. |

Why I Don't Sleep Much: Dorothy Surrenders
my patience is slipping
helena bonham carter.i'm not
helena bonham carter.
i'm not so much anxious for the movie, but she is awesome.
"she hasn't even heard them since she found out what the words meant, she decided she preferred them all wrong"
Amen Sista. I've pretty
Amen Sista.
I've pretty much given up on anticipating the movies to be even half as good as the books, but Helena Bonham Carter more than outplays her role. Helena is awesome. =)
I'm so with you.
Oh yes
I do actually love Harry Potter, and I am super excited for the movie (but not until I saw the trailer...I was like O_O)
But I'm sorry EVERY OTHER CHARACTER....Helena steals any frame she's in. She was in the last movie for what...5 minutes? But that section made me love that movie more the I normally would have. I love love love love Helena!

I cannot wait! but i have to = (
This is my favorite of all the Potter books. It looks like they are going to stay true to the book. I wonder if the movie will cause me to curl up in the fetal position and sob at the end like the book did. That would be impressive.
"what kind of rat bastard psychotic would play that song right now at this minute?"
Please tell me I'm not the
Please tell me I'm not the only one thinking 'Am I watching a snippet of Gandalf killing the Balrog?' when it shows Dumbledore surrounded with flames. >_>"
Love the ending. Smack~ <3

Use commas when necessary: You want 'Talk to me when you want to, mate' instead of 'Talk to me when you want to mate'. =]
I thought the same
ripping offchanneling LotR.I, too, thought that.
Dumbledore - Gandalf
Just so you know: When I read Lord Of The Rings some years before they filmed and showed it in the theaters, I pictured Gandalf in my very own way. The moment they introduced Ian McKellen in LOTR, my jaw scratched the floor. He was exactly the Gandalf, I imagined long ago. It was horrifying and genious at one time.
At the same time as I read LOTR, I read the Harry Potter books and Dumbledore was from now on always Gandalf. Just their appearance. Not their character (they are in fact a bit different).
As it happened, that Dumbledore was not Ian McKellen, my interest in HP flipped away.
And now with that scene in the trailer, I have the feeling, that I'm right about the Dumbledore-Gandalf thing. They are quite the same. And they should have been. Or not. I get the difficulty about that.
As much as it frustrates me
November
I've heard some rumors going 'round that it'd be released in November 2008 instead of July... I'm not sure if it's correct, but someone told me that Warner Bros. confirmed it.... Dear god I hope that's true ;) I'm dying to see the next one, and I'm pretty sure I'll go nuts if I have to wait until next summer!
OHHHH can't wait! :D :D
OHHHH can't wait! :D :D :D!
Haha, Harry Potter - the chosen one and gandalf killing the balrog. So Harry Potter is actually Frodo Baggins? Oh my lord (of the rings) lol. Then Ron must be Samwise Gamgee!! hehe

Ugh, the wait for this is
Ugh, the wait for this is really starting to get to me now, having seen the trailer. I'm super anxious, but also super excited! This movie will be incredible!
Oh, and they call him The Chosen One in the books, that's why it's in the trailer.
"No problem is insoluble, given a big enough plastic bag."
Yep.
Yep. I was gonna say that. :)
Everyone should read the books before they make off-handed comments. The movies may be lacking, but they do keep pace with the books well enough.
Books - A++
Movies - B (would be a D without Miss Watson)
Can't wait!
Excellent!
Yea I saw this trailer yesterday, I'm so psyched for the movie! The Half-Blood Prince was my favorite of the series so hopefully the movie will be good.

i am satiated for the time being
i love this. it's definitely happier than the the first one.
i thought that they moved the movie to the summer since Twilight was opening the same day as HP and they attract much of the same crowd...
i can't wait! since the moved it to july that means it's closer to my birthday :) happy birthday me! thanks warner brothers
Super stoked. I was
Super stoked.
I was fairly pissed when they pushed it back, but I got over it. Plus, it's coming out on my birthday next year, so I'm really looking forward to it.
Here we go
I just got done watching it. This link works.

The links aren't working
I found one that works (for now). The one above was dead by the time I got to it and the youtube video was for the older trailer.

I would let Emma Watson hit
I would let Emma Watson hit me any day. (:
&& i can't wait until July 17th!
My dork status has been confirmed
I get happy tingles down my spine when I hear the Harry Potter theme song. I probably should have realized that I am truly a huge nerd a long time ago since I get the same reaction to the Star Wars theme song and the Superman theme song.
"There is homophobia in every corner and pocket of this world, but at the core ... you just love someone and want to make mixedtapes for them" -Sara Quin
AWESOME!!!
NO, I will NOT get over it
Can´t wait!!!
Seriously why push it back?! (I know why it´s just mean spirited they did that)
Is it wrong to say that I love Snape? He is so cool and mean and he has the coolest facial expressions, he is awesome. I also have a crush on Hermione and Bellatrix Lestrange but those two are a given.
breath, regulate breathing..
I could NOT be more excited.
I'm too excited to even be embarassed by my innapropriate attraction to the whole cast.
It's their wands that do it.
the way hermione hit him round the head like that, mmm, I do love a girl with attitude..
cough, sorry, the word hermione sends me into a thought spiral :]
What is it with lesbians and Helena
Helena
Helena is so hot. Hermione is uber hot. This is going to be a good movie. If the movie doesn't live up to the book, I'm just going to put all my focus onto those two.
I'm so mad that they pushed the date back. i was so excited that it's almost November. Gosh. How rude. At least the Beedle and the Bard is coming out in a month.
Expecto Movieorum
Oh Ms. Snarker, now you have done it! Gone and made me pine away for the next movie. I think I have to bone up and reread my HP books again in advance of this release. It looks AWESOME!!!!!
none of the trailers are
none of the trailers are working for me, but then, quite a few videos on afterellen don't work for me, so i'm not surprised.
Alan Horn put a message to the fans on the official site, saying that due to the half blood prince being pushed back, we'd only have to wait 18 months until deathly hallows part 1, instead of 2 years. not much of a sweetner, cos we've had to wait 2 years between some of the films before, so this statement seems redundant.
why can't they just admit the truth?!
also not sure why people have just picked up on the date change. the date was changed months ago. if you were really a fan, you'd know this, lol!!
i also love how certain people don't do research before they write an article, and it makes me laugh when they get put straight by those really in the know! keep it up ms snarker, lmao!!
Get it straight person in the know
Perhaps if you read the article correctly you'd see that Ms Snarker was just giving us a taste of the International trailer just released this weekend. She said nothing about the date other than when the movie is coming out.
explorergal, i wasn't
explorergal, i wasn't actually talking about the dates, i was talking about ms snarker getting it wrong about 'the chosen one' and matrix reference. like someone pointed out above, it's been mentioned before in the harry potter series.
my bad, i should have made that part clear.
so yes, i did read the article correctly, and i did get it straight, cos i'm in the know...
