Gwen Stefani takes in the GarbageYou know how when you find out that an artist you like also likes another artist you like, you have that kindred spirit moment? You know, that moment when you imagine all three of you becoming friends, hanging out, braiding each other’s hair and rewatching the log dance scene from Dirty Dancing ... What, no? That’s just me? Whatever, fine.
Well, I had just that kind of moment when I saw that Shirley Manson had joined Gwen Stefani onstage this weekend at the once and future No Doubt-ers Los Angeles show. They sang "Wonderful Life" together to what can only be properly defined as squeals of delight from the crowd. Now, I love me some Gwenie. I euphorically danced my way through a concert on her Harajuku Lovers tour not so very long ago. OK, so she is a little overexposed, and if she tells me to buy L.A.M.B. one more time, I’m going to slaughter the first one I see (no, not really — please don't sic PeTA on me).
But I really love me some Shirley Manson. There is just something so fantastically fierce, so sensationally sexy about the Garbage front woman. Yes, the Scottish accent helps, as does the red hair. Of course, she wasn't that bad as a butch blond either. Not bad at all. Apparently, Gwen shares my adoration, because as Shirley left the stage, Gwen couldn't resist running up and giving her bum a little pat. Wow, that kindred spirit fantasy just veered off in a whole different direction. Ahem.

Shyrley
what more can be said about someone as talented and gorgeous as shyrley masnon?the first time i saw her on tv she was wearing one of her trademark little dresses and i just about died.
her and gwen have been around for quite some time. except that gwen sold out. like hardcore. it's not even funny how bad she sold out. but we have manson and if the day ever comes when she sells out... i don't even want to think about it.
shirley manson is stunning,
Greatest hits CD?
I heard Shirley is recording solo stuff
And I agree, lucyvaliant: Texas seems to have lost a little of the spark after the Greatest Hits cd (although I think Red Book wasn't as bad as "Be careful what you wish for"). Sharleen Spiteri's currently recording solo stuff, too.
I like Garbage for their music, but it wasn't until Shirley went androgenous that I really noticed her. And I mean REALLY noticed her. Dang! And Gwen's not too hard on the eyes, although I don't care for her solo stuff (nor her clothing stuff).

Squee!!!!!!!!!That's
Squee!!!!!!!!!
That's fabulous!!!!
I absolutely adore Shirley (nothing wrong with Gwen either). I saw Garbage when I was about sixteen, and Shirley was just so... stunning. After that I died my hair glowing red for many years (well, Gillian Anderson was to blame for that, too.) But I didn't grow any taller or thinner.
Shirley is almost something unreal.
...maybe she's a fembot?
Nah.
Pippi Longstocking
This is completely OT but I love your Pippi Longstocking pic.
Shirley and Gwen together is an excellent thought... musically of course. I am so ready for a new No Doubt album. Maybe spending time with Shirley will inspire some songwriting that doesn't include bananas.
Don't you think I know exactly where I stand? This world is forcing me to hold your hand. ... I'm just a girl, what's my destiny? What I've succumbed to is making me numb.
Thanks! I like my pippi too.
Thanks! I like my pippi too.

The last time I saw Garbage
The last time I saw Garbage in concert, they were opening for No Doubt... but there were no duets, alas. This video looks more like old school Gwen, before she glammed herself up and started making music I was less interested in.
Speaking of awesome duets involving Shirley Manson, she sang a couple of songs with Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders at a taped concert for Decades Rock Live. I think it was aired on VH1 (I caught it on some random HD channel I've never heard of). Here's a link to a big number they did with a whole bunch of people, including Iggy Pop:

Also, she and Chrissy Hynde
AND Chrissy patted Shirley's arse too - I mean, who could resist?
!!
YEAH
I LOVE GARBAGE!!
I THINK I'M "PARANOID"... MY FAVORITE ONE!!
I love Garbage
More Garbage please!
Gwen Stefani!
Holy cow!!
The first scream that signals what's going on says it all. I'm not surprised Gwen patted Sirley's backside! Did you see what she was wearing?? If I'd been at that concert I don't know how I'd have stopped myself from climbing onto the stage. Good god, I think I'm going to faint.
Not Only But Also
Purrr....
dreams are made of music
eeee, Garbage is my fave. Awesome, I hope they have future duets or what not.
Ahh, the memories. Garbage.
"I'd like to dedicate this next song to all the greek girls, sorry to say it but the boys aren't much..
So here is "You look so fine" "
Needless to say all the girls (s)creamed and went wild and some guy standing near me went all typical male "duuuude she's a lesbo, yeah!" Haha
Ah well. Garbage, as in the debut album, was amazing. Version 2.0 was okay i guess, but after that they started sucking hairymonkeyass. Pity.
They're screening "Anal Pandemonium" at the Velvet Illusions adult theatre.
You know where to find me.
