Emma goes back to school, er, Hogwarts

Hermione has not left the building. After a weekend of frantic tabloid speculation that Harry Potter star Emma Watson wanted out of her role as the franchise's resident smarty wand Hermione Granger, Warner Bros. has put mortified Muggles' minds at ease. Studio reps released a statement saying they were "extremely confident" the 16-year-old actress would return for the sixth and seventh films. They expect her contracts for the films to be finalized soon. Other series leads Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have already John Hancocked to star in the final two installments.

Entertainment Weekly speculated that the holdup was less about Emma's dissatisfaction at being known as "that girl from Harry Potter" and more about her desire to -- in true Hermoine fashion -- hit the books. The young British actress will turn 17 next month and could enter university in the fall, right around the same time the sixth Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, begins filming. Then filming on the final (yet-to-be-released) book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is tentatively slated for fall 2008. That would mean Emma would spend her first two years of college balancing a demanding schedule of class work, movie shoots and keg stands. Guess that magic wand will come in pretty handy.

    I want to punch her in the face, but it's probably for the best for her to sigh her way through the rest of the series. It's late in the game to change actresses, though I would likely not care.

    haha then i'm a total perv too cause i think she's hot. i'll just wait until she's legal...only a year and a half to go...where are they holding those British university kegs anyway? hahaha.

    Okay, I saw the name Emma and glanced quickly down to the picture and thought, 'well, guess she's finally starting to look like her Aunt Julia!'  Oops.  Wrong Emma but she is still starting to look like a young Julia Roberts.

    She's so cute, dont worry guys you arent pervs..she's just so good looking! haha I'm happy shes making all the movies, it wouldnt be the same without her. I'm a harry potter freak!

    I have to say, Emma's blossomed into a beautiful young woman. Something that can't be said for her other 2 co-stars, Daniel what's-his-name and the carrot top boy. I know some gay men drool over Daniel, especially since his Equus outing on stage, but he's just fugly.

    However, there's a good chance Emma might not continue the acting gig after Harry Potter. She sounds like she's into intellectual pursuits - just like her character :)

    i think its ok to like emma watson, but then again i am only 19... although, it was a weird moment watching the third film when hermione turns up in "normal" clothes and punches malfoy. i found myself sitting up straight and thinking, "she is really hot now"....  it distressed me no end. but when i came to university i found a straight guy my age who likes her too, so i feel a bit better about it now, lol
