Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore kiss and tell about "Whip It"

Look, makers of Whip It, you already totally had me at fierce girls on roller skates. But now, thanks to two new magazine photoshoots, my anticipation is fever pitch. Or, more accurately, the kind of fever that happens in my brain at the sight of Drew Barrymore straddling Ellen Page on the floor.

And, well, then there’s this:

Um, wait, I’m sorry — were we talking about something? My brain just totally stopped working. Also, I think I swallowed my tongue. But, really, that’s the only rational reaction one can have when viewing the two new photoshoots featuring Whip It castmates Drew and Ellen for Vs. and Marie Claire magazines.

Straddling! Kissing! Hugging! Lord, it’s almost overkill. You’ve got us. We’re going to see this movie. In fact, we’re helpless against your clever publicity ploys. First you give us a rock ‘em, roll ‘em photoshoot by famed photographer Ellen von Unwerth for Vs.

Drew’s directorial tells the story of misfit Bliss (played by Ellen), a rebel in a small Texas town whose mother wants her to be a beauty queen but whose heart tells her to be a rollergirl. Ellen and Drew also spoke with Marie Claire about the film — and hugged and held hands.

In the Q&A with the two stars, Drew has very nice things to say about Ellen and vice versa. Drew also seems to have nice things to say about Ellen’s body, but then who wouldn’t?

Drew: Ellen has such a beautiful body, and I personally battled with my own body image for years. I used to tell myself, ‘You can't wear anything sleeveless or strapless.’ And all of a sudden I was like, What if I just didn't send such negative messages to my brain and said, wear it and enjoy it? And now I'm more comfortable in clothes than ever.
Ellen: That openness. It's so sexy.
Drew: She was in her frickin' bra with an open jacket and hot-pink shorts, skating around the rink with red lips and ...
Ellen: I was having a really good time.
Drew: ... and she was sexy as a mother ... a feral creature. It was great.

No word on what prompted the kissing, but I think we can all make up an appropriate story to go with it in our heads.
