Between this and Keanu Reeves trying to ruin every good idea ever made (Starring in 'Jekyl and Hyde'? Really? Goddamnit!), I'm convinced that Hollywood needs to be destroyed now.

100 bucks says that it turns out to be another 'Twilight'. And that is crap.

um, no. Do not want. Especially when I can still get fresh Buffy comics every month. Try again later, like in 10 or 15 years when nostalgia has really had a chance to set in.

My best friend was just telling me about this. As a huge Buffy fan I have to say that I don't like this at all.

I tend to be more open minded than others when it comes to drastic changes and something I like or love. For this reason the lack of the original cast doesn't really bother me. Lack of Joss Whedon on the other hand is a different matter, especially since the people behind this film are the people behind a very average film.

could work out, but my hopes for that are not high at all. fine i could do without buffy, and maybe some of the other cast, but without joss? the creator of all good in buffyverse? hmm, bad choice. if joss was doing a movie of buffy the next generation i would see it for sure. this time i don't know, probibly will watch it anyway, but not that excited about it thought.

being a die hard buffy fan i was uber excited about the prospect of a buffy movie. and now im just pretty much thinking they can shove it up their Kuzui!   NO JOSS. NO DEAL.

To me this movie is probably going to bomb they dont have any orginal cast, No Joss, and these guys made the first Buffy movie which no offense was pretty bad so I hope its good but I doubt it will be brought up to expectations

 why do they always do this? Making a "new and re-vamped"(pun intened) buffy film without any of the original cast that's just not right.

I just can't imagine someone esle playing willow or tara or any of the other characters.

So thanks but no thanks. It not even worth making without the original cast.

Ok no this cannot happen. When I stopped being in denial over the definite No of a Xena movie, (still kinda upset but there was only shred of hope I was clinging to anyway), I put my hopes into the possibility of my beloved Buffy comming to big screen.

 Like it? HELL NO. Want it? No way. Accept it? definetly not.

But I can understand it.

There just aren't words to do justice to the complete wrongness that is any type of Buffy remake without the genius that is Joss Whedon. It may just be me but I'll take my Buffy on dvd reruns  and new comic installments anyday.

For a minute I was so happy thinking 'yay a buffy film'. Then I read on.

I mean Really, the idea is absurd. Everyone has gotten so attached to the Series and even if they say the film will be different it's just gonna wreck it all.

I mean , come on people. Get an original idea that doesn't mean re-doing something that was brilliant and should not be tampered with!

Before Joss, we had Buffy the Movie, which suckedddddddd.

 I don't trust them to make a good film. Unless it stars Eliza Dushku as Faith. Then yes, by all means. 

I like men who have a future, and women who have a past.

With the Twilight and True Blood popularity.....its no wonder this pipe dream comes up again. It's a ridiculous idea without Joss.

Buffy without the original cast and JW is not Buffy!

Ok So i was around 9 when the series ended and i was watching since season 5 which of course i wasn`t allowed to do because it was too `dark`or whatever. My point here is that I missed the whole middle of series like amazingness. Luckily that hasn't died much even years after it ended, so since it ended i've jumped on anything Buffy or Joss related including Dollhouse & Dr. Horrible's sing along blog & The Buffy Comics (obviosly). Because Joss WAS the show.

A movie without him is just wrong. It's horrid and terrible and how can they even think about doing a movie without the original cast? ARE THEY CRAZY? WE didn't BUY into the written on paper Buffy we didn't BUY into the written on paper version of Tara and Willow. We bought the actors and the performances and the characters that THEY made real. THIS will definitely not work. I'd rather be tied to damn  chair with my eyes lids peeled off and a constant sting in them because of the inability to blink AND be forced to watch the ORIGINAL movie OVER AND OVER then watch this load of crap this film will no doubt be.

DAMN IT HOLLYWOOD. IS nothing sacred?

A big fail to Kuzui. Though I agree that they could potentially make a movie franchise off a completely different slayer/different time/different place... they have to have JOSS to do it. Ridiculous that they aren't asking him. I think a Vampire Slayer movie franchise could be spectacular, IF Joss was behind it. Without him, it's all a whole bunch of fail.

BtVS without Joss Whedon? No. Just...no. 

Since I'll probably never forgive Jossy-boy for the complete toilet splash that was UPN!BtVS, I'd actually be *more* inclined to see a reboot he has nothing to do with.

On the other hand, I don't care very much about a reboot.  Maybe if it looked cool.  If not, WB!BtVS is enough for me.

..... BtVS without Joss is NOTHING, NOTHING!!!, not to mention none of the series cast would be HORRIBLE, but i could bear it if JOSS were in it! ARRRGHHH!!!!

How unfortunate. This is a complete and total slap in the face to Buffy fans. We've been waiting for a film opportunity for, what? Oh, yeah, that's right - years. And now we get this. What are we supposed to do, jump and do cartwheels? Not likely. In fact, I'm thinkin' someone in Hollywood can just go and choke on Mr. Gordo parts at this point.

If this movie is made, and if it goes down in an epic flame of fury, what the series has built for itself isn't lost; the series will very much remain too poignant and significant to be undone in one box office bomb.

By no means am I happy about this, try as I may, but I may be able to ride on one glimmer of optimism as long as the writers/producers don't try to sell this using the title of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But seeing as Hollywood is Hollywood, I wouldn't be at all surprised, because they need some backing to get this thing to sell. And the last time I checked, the word "fair" goes out the door as soon as money signs seep their way into the process of thought.

They already did a Buffy movie, and then the show made it what it really was.  This just makes me mad...I can imagine how diehard Star Trek fans may feel...I refuse to see this!!!!  (Though maybe, just maybe, I'd see if it the cast is made up of super hot women...that could sway me...)

 But I do agree with everyone who says it wouldn't be the same--I have a special place in my heart for Buffy (especially Willow and Tara), and nothing else can compare.  Then again, perhaps even a movie with the original cast wouldn't be the same...you never know.  Sometimes it's better to leave things be, but Hollywood would never think that way--not if more money can be made haha

who are they trying to draw in??? unless there is some kind of miracle of cinema, where good work and art sumblimely supercedes the power-hungry marketing moguls (as in, oh i don't know... the tv show???), i don't see how the new movie doesn't offend the hordes of buffy fans who are the only people probably interested in watching anyway-- so... who the hell is gonna be the audience?

okay, that was convoluted, but i can't even believe they are trying to do this. save for a weird few (my one friend who loves the original movie), buffy is synonomous with joss. until he's dead, this is like writing a harry potter book sans jk.

and i'm not even a huge fan of the show!!! (don't kill me ladies, i'm a fan, just not an all-out, live or die for it one.) but i do recognize stupidity when it tries to make money in front of me.
