Alyson Hannigan welcomes a baby girl to the world

Welcome to the world, baby Willow! Fine, I know that’s not her name. But How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan and husband Alexis Denisof announced the birth of their first child today. Satyana Denisof was born on March 24, which also happens to be new-mommy Alyson’s birthday.

The former Buffy the Vampire Slayer stars met on the set of the Joss Whedon series in 1998, though they didn’t officially start dating until Alexis moved to its spin-off Angel. They were married in 2003. The couple announced they were expecting last October.

While Alyson has spent the last four seasons as Lily on How I Met Your Mother, her legions of lesbian and bisexual female fans know her best as Willow. Oh, Willow. I will always carry an extra-flamey candle for you.

I’m thrilled for the happy couple and hope nothing but the best for little Satyana. No word on the name’s origin yet. It could be Russian (given father Alexis’ Russian heritage) or it could be Sanskrit for “vehicle for action infused with the grace of spirit” (according to the Satyana Institute).

Whatever it means, may she grow up happy and healthy and perhaps one day find her Tara. Or Kennedy. Or Oz. Look, I don’t judge — as long as it feels like magic.

    I saw Alyson on the Ellen show in Feb and she looked like she was ready to pop! lol. She was keeping the baby's gender a secret from the press and I remember Ellen trying to trick her in telling her the baby's gender. lol

    anyways, I'm so happy for her and I bet the lil' baby Satyana is beautiful!! I believe Alyson is going to be a wonderful mom! :)

    What a great birthday present for the new mommah!! and the name, Ive never heard it before..I read it Satan the first time around xD and I do have my specs on...Anyways, I cant wait to see baby pics, wonder how the baby looks.
