Alanis Morissette's flavorful new photos

Alanis Morissette's new album, Flavors of Entanglement, is fast approaching its June 2 release date, and with it comes the inevitable promo material. Apollo has already filled us in on the album's substance and good reviews. So instead, let's be totally superficial for a moment and judge a CD by its cover. Behold:

I can't be the only one who was immediately reminded of Alanis' breakout album, Jagged Little Pill, right? A gauzy, abstract background with a girl in the right-hand corner. Well, it sold 30 million copies that first time, so why not give it another go?

But let's move on. The next series of shots are a classic example of too much filter, not enough filter. First, the gossamer series. She looks lovely, all ethereal and soft-focus. Also, I think I see London, I see France, if you know what I mean.

But then comes the leotard series. Um, would it be possible to get a little of that gossamer back? Especially in certain, um, areas. Per Emily Post: “The proper way for a lady to sit is in the center of her chair … her hands relaxed in her lap, her knees together.” Ahem. Though these photos do give me a newfound appreciation of Alanis' decolletage. I approve.

All joking aside, Alanis looks great, the album sounds intriguing and with any luck the trend of pop stars in leotard will die out sometime before we all have to build our own personal Arks to save us from the floods of global warming. Though, on second thought, leotards might help you be more aerodynamic in the water. So, are you excited about Alanis' new flavorful release?

That is who Alanis reminds me of. It has been bugging me a while now. Every time I see those pictures I had this "she looks like someone", she could be an older sister or something.

Gorgeous pictures though hihi

Simply amazing! Beautiful pictures, they make me curious about her new album. The last picture reminded me of a picture I saw of Bridget McManus... or is it just me...?

Love my Alanis.

I am looking forward to hearing this album.  Her storytelling style of writing has always appealed to me.  Singer songwriters hold a special place in my heart.

Not really

Alanis Morisette is a good example of someone who made one great album they will never be able to equal.

I stopped being excited after Jagged little pill.

Alanis

I actually like this album cover more than Jagged Little Pill's.  I think it looks more interesting.  But JLP is my favourite Alanis album, especially the Acoustic version of it.

Has anyone heard "Not As We" on House?  I can't wait until the full version comes out.  It's so gorgeous!

Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie

That's actually my all time favourite of her. And yes, when the album first came out I was disappointed, like so many. But I am at a different place now and I totally feel most of the songs.

I am way curious what she has come up with this time.

Oh lawwwwwwd

Being the mini-ex student photographer I am, those photos hurt my eyes. The filter no filter ones especially, overexposed, and not in an arty way. The leotard ones, err, why, but, yeah do lean forward and push your elbows in, yup, mmm, that'll do. I like the cover though.

Btw, surely aerodynamic in the water would hydrodynamic??

I need to stop commenting at 2am...

God, this woman is gorgeous,

God, this woman is gorgeous, I like the "ethereal and soft focus" photos best. I'll be in my bunk.

Good for Alanis

I feel so bad for singers-songwriters like Alanis who are judge by their first album and expected to put out the same album over and over again. That would get boring and it's not fair to say you're upset because they are in a better place in life and are not as angry.I like her new stuff and I think she has become a very intelligent woman who has made her own decisions and done some good acting spots every now and then. It's very hard for them to write the same songs when they are in different places in in life. It's being an adult and I would like to think we all have our ups and downs.

yes please

I'll have another serving of Alanis please !

I love this woman. Her voice, her writing, her sassiness (all her attributes...). AND her music. I feel her songwriting has greatly evolved since Jagged Little Pill and she has tried out various directions of musics, all to my liking thank you.

Can't wait for the new one, and, pray, the following european tour :)

Ms Snarker thanks for the pics. Leotard frenzy.

Do I have to bring up Madonna

Good gawd people........look if Madonna can jump around in that purple nastiness. Alanis is just so real and raw and human - love her! She could be sittin in a big old play-dough puddle, she would still look and sound great - and probably laugh at herself too.
