Rosario Dawson's "Gemini" to hit the web this summerA few weeks ago, I blogged about EW.com's list of "50 Actors We'd Watch in Anything," and among the lovely ladies they chose was Rosario Dawson.
As luck would have it, she has a few projects coming up this summer that you can catch her in. Scifi.com recently announced NBC Universal's acquisition of a new web series called Gemini Division that will star Dawson as a New York detective. The series will be comprised of 50 episodes between three and four minutes in length, with a compilation video coming every 10 days to catch any newcomers up on the action. There's no word yet on how frequently we can expect each webisode, though I would expect it to be fairly frequently if we will need a recap video every week and a half! Here's the series' description from NBC.com:
Sadly, it appears as though she will not be playing for our team, due to the whole fiancé plotline, but that most definitely will not keep me from watching.
As someone who generally does not get into science fiction (nothing against it, just not my cup of tea), Dawson will truly be the main attraction for me. Not only is she naturally beautiful, but she is very open about her geeky tendencies, is one of many stars who participated in the V-Day event advocating the end of violence against women, and a loyal supporter of LGBT community. (If her role in RENT isn't enough to convince you of that last fact, she is one of seven celebrities who participate in PFLAG's Stay Close Campaign.) Yes, yes. I will most certainly find myself bookmarking that website this summer. Will you?

I am not sure what I think about this new web series.
It is not that I don't like web series...because I like many and continue to watch. And it is not that I don't like SciFi series...because I do enjoy several.
But this is the first in a new type of web series...a web series created by a production team and an ad agency...with the focus being to pimp the client's products.
I read from a couple of different sources about this show starting...where the focus will be to sell the products of Intel, Cisco, and Microsoft...in the context of the series.
Here is the web addy to an article about this...

Love Me Some Rosario Dawson
I know many people do not understand the change of entertainment industry, however, technology is ruling the world right now. The best moves for any entertainment industry is producing webseries. Sorry. The decline of television has spiraled so badly. In a recent newspaper article in this past Sunday's paper discussed the government(Bush Adminstration) seriously thinking about cutting funding to PBS programs due to low ratings. I got mixed feelings about that though. PBs is not the only station where the decline of ratings is an issue. People are changing the way their getting their entetainment. Now, they no longer have to watch television on a tube, they can download movies, music, and now televison from from the internet to the ipod, net,mp3 player, etc. I personally think webeseries is the future. I will be watching Dawson's new show. I have been a huge fan of hers since I saw her in Chelsea Walls. She is one of the most Hollywood's most talentive and beautiful actresses around. I defintely will watch anything she's in.
Love me some Rosario Dawson!
yea

I understand the changing
I understand the changing times and I'm more than willing to go along with it. However, those of us who are deaf are being left behind given that things on the web are not captioned/subtitled. Some sites are slowly starting to catch up (very few, and mainly american sites but since I no longer live in america, I can't access them) but it'll take time. Not everything on television is captioned either, but I have a lot more choices there. Heck, I'm still severely limited in my viewing options when it comes to wanting to go to the theatre. So much for being part of the techno age.
So as much as I love Rosario ... I won't be tuning in.
To Karisita
I know in my heart these tech companies( or at least someone's brilliant mind ) know this and they are probably working on better internet asccess for the deaf and blind. So don't give your hopes up and keep a lookout . You never know. I'll make it my wish and prayers for better technological access for the deaf .Thank you so much for input on this discussion.

I like her in Rent the movie.
Mmmmm.. Rosario.... And I
Mmmmm.. Rosario.... And I admit, I am a bit of a sci-fi geek. So, I will most definitely be watching. I wonder why it is exclusive to the web... this seems to be a new start up for a lot of network shows lately.
