I’m no good at science, but I know my chemistryThere’s a lot of voting going on around here these days — and I’m not even talking about the presidential primaries. From the Hot 100to the NewNowNext Awards, to the Best. Lesbian. Vlog. Ever., and the Best Character on TV Tourney that Malinda opened our eyes to, I am spending even more time clicking on random websites than I do watching TV (and that’s more telling about my social life these days than I care to admit.) So, who needs another random and unnecessary list/award/tournament/poll to vote for? Apparently I do. If you’re like me, the head over to EW.com where they are currently accepting nominations for TV’s Best Chemistry. The relationship between Seeley Booth and Temperance Brennan (played by David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, respectively) on Bones seems to be the catalyst for the contest, but I think we can all agree on the fact that some lesbionic relationships are much needed additions to the competition.
Seriously, how awesome would it be if enough of us went over to their site and flooded the comments with Sapphic suggestions? To get you started, here are a few of my picks: Bette and Tina (The L Word)
I’m sure some of you will cry foul for using TiBette as my L Word couple rather than Alice and Dana, but the heat these two emitted during season 5 cannot go unnoticed. Jennifer Beals and Laurel Holloman continually deliver some of the most believable sex scenes in the whole show. Their chemistry is what brought the show to life in its inaugural season and has played a vital role in the success of the show as a whole. These two are the glue that keeps the show together. Spencer and Ashley(South of Nowhere) It takes a special type of relationship to create the kind of mania that South has received, culminating in the recent efforts to Save Spashley from cancellation. The heat between these two young women is not only apparent in scenes like the one we saw in the Season 3 premiere, but pervade throughout their friendship as well. Virtually every queer woman I know can relate to one of characters in one way or the other, largely because of the acting chops of Gabrielle Christian and Mandy Musgrave. God bless them. Carrie and Samantha (Sex and the City)
There’s no denying the on screen chemistry between all four women in the Sex ensemble, but somehow, the bond between these two always stood out for me. Samantha — the wildest of the bunch — was usually the only one with blind dedication to her friends. Regardless of how self-consumed she was the majority of the time, her protective nature shined through, and I consistently hoping that my friends would react the way she did if ever in a similar situation. Jack and Karen (Will & Grace) While this is my only pair including a man, I feel justified in the fact that it is a gay man and an arguably bi-curious woman. Despite the show’s title, the characters portrayed by Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally consistently stole the show. Their oddball interactions and over-the-top personalities provided witty laugh-out-loud moments that I have yet to see on television since. Oh, how I miss those two. I am sure there are many others you will chastise me for not including. (Off the top of my head, I know I will see several Buffy pairings as well as some cries for Olivia and Alexandra from Law & Order: SVU.) Submitted by on May 15, 2008 - 3:00pm. |

I must say...
Xena and Gabrielle. Those two had fantastic chemistry. I think when the actors get along offset, it usually shows when the camera is rolling. ;)

BAM
AGREED!!! 100%! They were so
What about...?
What about Willow and Tara?!! Jo & Blair? Carrie and Miranda (rather than Samantha)? Grace & Karen? (or Karen and Rosario for that matter?) Buffy and Faith? Buffy and Willow? I feel I also have to throw in Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (SNL Update), because I cannot make a post in anything without mentioning Tina Fey--my apologies.
And, hetero chemistry I approve of:
Jim & Pam, Mulder & Scully
Carrie and Miranda!
willow/tara
Willow and Tara!
EDIT: Wyle, just beat me by a minute, will you? ;-)
haha I agree with the
haha I agree with the Bette/Tina sex theory.
Which is why I would also nominate them.
And I like Willow and Tara, of course. 'Cause I'm that predictable.
TiBette
Tibette has me hooked for over 4 years now. They definitely deserve my nomination.
But Amanda & Marc (Ugly Betty) are cracking me up every week. They're both crazy, sexy and sometimes quite dumb. That's why I love them. Their chemistry is unlike any other!
Take a look/listen at myspace (www.myspace.com/robinjayunplugged) and add me as your friend! See ya @ myspace!!!
ditto on Amanda and Marc!
Woa... they mentioned B&B
Woa... they mentioned B&B but no Scully/Mulder? With the new movie up that's the major duo.
On the lezzie table for me it's Nan & Kitty. Not just because I can't help myself with Keeley Hawes or 'cause I adore Water's work, but also 'cause Hawes' chemistry with Rachel Stirling made me wish Kitty wasn't such a pain the ars and they ended up together to shag happily ever after.
tv couplings....there's only one
Has to be Nikki and Helen!!!! All these years on and they are still the hottest couple out there..............mmmmmmmmm ....................ooo sorry where was I again {;0)
... shane and...
Shane and Jenny have really great chemistry... especially this last episode of season 4... plus the thing about Shane breaking Jenny's heart in the end.... the chemistry has been spot on for a long time though.
... and I don't know if this falls under the good chemistry category or not, but Rory and Lorelai also had a great connection. Plus, they had perfect timing with their witty banter. Perfect.
Wow.
you know you love me
Hello, Blair and Serena from Gossip Girl!
Their chemistry is so off the charts, fo shiz.
Thank you!!!!!
Tibette is the sexy couple
Tibette is the sexy couple
They have like the hottest chemistry ever . they should win
I have to agree with all
I have to agree with all the Mulder and Scully nominations. Sure they're straighties but by far have the best chemistry in TV. not to mention that Bones couple is a total rip off of them.

Nice tat, L.
Breyton chemistry is undeniable.
I'm torn on this one. I have too many fan pairings. Just because I haven't seen this one yet I'll say...
Brooke and Sam. Or, Chris and Rita.
But we all know I'm a F/B girl at heart.

Do you believe in soulmates?
Xena&Gabrielle
Tina&Bette
Alice&Dana
Mulder&Scully
Bones&Booth
There have to be more, but I'm gonna think about it while I'm gonna fitness
My choice(s)
Definitely Mulder and Scully as Number 1
But here - anyone remember Mary Cherry and Nicole Julian from "Popular"? The show always light up when they are together.
Booth & Brennan from "Bones"
For "The L Word" though, I liked Alice & Dana before they hooked up though.
Buffy and Faith.
TiBette
BETTE+TINA and XENA+GABRIELLE
I will actually nominate Gabrielle and Xena as the #1 all-time couple with the most chemistry. The have platonic and sexual chemistry and that is incredibly rare. I mean that in the sense that their chemistry appealed to everyone...so much so that I'm sure you can feel that same chemistry emitting from Lucy and Renee when they're together now.
Bette and Tina are the best current couple for chemistry...out of any gay or straight show. I think anyone trying to deny this should watch the episode around mid-season this year when they starting kissing each other (for the first time in a long time) and Bette started crying halfway through. The raw emotion and power that comes out of them in that scene is some of the best acting I've EVER seen. I've probably watched that scene 50 times now because I can't get over the chemistry that comes from both of them. That is something that is natural...and it cannot be denied.
-Renée
Love Bette and Tina, but...
