Colbie Caillat gets "Bubbly"

I have a new music obsession. Colbie Caillat (rhymes with ballet) draws me in with every word that escapes her lips.

I first heard her blend of soul and folk in a random commercial, and once I was finally able to put a name and face to the voice, I was hooked. Apparently I'm not the only one drawn in by her sound. For over four months, Caillat was the No. 1 unsigned artist on MySpace, and she eventually gained the attention of record executives. She signed with Universal Republic, and her debut album, Coco, has been a clear success. The first single, “Bubbly,” reached its peak on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 5 and has spent 26 weeks on the chart. That song has also garnered over 630,000 plays on her MySpace page. Here's the video for “Bubbly."



On the liner notes for Coco, Caillat offers her thanks to family, friends and those who helped with the making of the album. She also thanks several big-time musicians for doing what they do. And she knows about what they do. Her father, Ken Caillat, coproduced two of Fleetwood Mac’s albums, Rumours and Tusk. In addition to thanking Fleetwood Mac, Caillat also thanks Lauryn Hill. I’d like to thank them, too.

At only 26, Caillat could have a long career ahead of her. Let me be the first to say that I certainly hope so.

    Wow, this is odd - I was watching VH1 yesterday, and this video comes on, and I was hooked right away. But in their genius they forgot to put that little text box on the screen telling people who was singing. Looks like you cleared that up for me, thx ;)

    I remember watching her on Conan or was it Carson? Anyway

    Beautiful voice. She looks like Jennifer Aniston's younger sister.

    reminds me of the female version of jack johnson...i went to go see her by accident last year or the year prior. one of my fave's justin young was opening for her here in LA and i decided to go check it out...i was in love when i heard her voice. great voice and vibe, very chill!

    I first heard about her on MySpace and out of no where, I start hearing her song EVERYWHERE! She's truly talented and I'm quite happy for all of her success!

    I like "Bubbly", but I have to say I prefer "Feelings Show".  All of her music is pretty mellow, I'd like to see what she would do with something a little more edgy, I reckon it would be awesome, maybe a little Alanis-esque perhaps?

     She's been rocking my world since September.

    Midnight Bottle and One Fine Wire are my favorites though Capri and Tailor Made come in close!

    I heard her music around a month ago and I still can't stop myself from listening to all the tracks on her album...every second is beautiful.

    Went and ordered her CD Coco after listening to it on iTunes. I really liked Bubbly and Oxygen, but the whole CD seems to be full of feel good songs.

    She did a free concert in west palm beach. there had to be at least a thousand people there. She said it was her biggest concerts so far. It was so amazing, i have her cd i listen to it at least once a week.
