Keira and Sienna get friendly in "The Edge of Love"I blogged last month about the U.K. June release date for upcoming British film The Edge of Love, starring Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley. A biopic about the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, Edge features Miller as his wife, Caitlin MacNamara, and Knightley as his former flame, Vera Phillips.
The movie has been on my radar – or rather my gaydar – since 2006, when Lindsay Lohan (who was then attached to star in Sienna Miller’s role) told MTV, “[Keira] is older than me, but she kind of has a mysterious relationship with my lover. And then there’s somewhat of a lesbian undertone.”
Although scriptwriter Sharman Macdonald (who is also Keira’s mum) has since made it clear that there won’t be any overt physical relationship between Knightley and Miller’s characters, all the suggestions have been that the emotional relationship between them will be central to the story. The trailer for the film is now out, and I’m not entirely sure what I think: It starts off promisingly, and the Brokeback Mountain echoes in the text make me giggle: “TWO WOMEN … A RIVALRY … THAT BECAME A FRIENDSHIP." I’m just waiting for them to add “THAT BECAME A SECRET." On the other hand, the Atonement echoes are less inspiring – not that I didn’t like that movie, but I’m not sure I need to watch Keira whisper “Come back” to her soldier lover all over again. It also looks like the heterosexual romances will be taking up quite a substantial part of the story. As well as the love triangle between Dylan, Caitlin and Vera, there is also the relationship between Vera and Captain William Killick (played by Cillian Murphy). The real-life Killick provided the original inspiration for the movie when he opened fire on the Thomas home with a machine gun and a hand grenade in 1945, allegedly because of jealousy over his wife’s friendship with Thomas (although others have claimed it was actually over a pub brawl and had nothing to do with romance.)
One thing the movie unequivocally will provide is a chance to hear Knightley sing. Apparently in her role as Vera she performs "Blue Tahitian Moon," "Maybe It’s Because I Love You Too Much," and "Drifting and Dreaming." Though I’m disappointed that the trailer doesn’t focus more on the relationship between Knightley and Miller’s characters, I’m definitely still planning to see the movie. What about you? Has the trailer got you interested? Submitted by on May 19, 2008 - 9:12am. |

Thug Means Never Having To Say You're Sorry
The first 30 seconds looked
Promo
That trailer should've stopped after 38 sec.
Short drop and a sudden stop
Yeah I agree, the first 38 seconds made sense. But after that it was like they threw all the scenes into a hat and chose at random what ones to put together for the rest of the trailer.
Sounds as though our lesbian dreams have been dashed to pieces, but lets hope that the movie can pick itself up from a mess of a trailer and at least put together a wonderful story about two women who find friendship and love in a very unexpected place. Now I sound like a promo for it.
just for publicity
Perhaps for Kiera Knightley? Hehe..
dónde hay amor, hay el dolor
Trailer
Was Miller meant to be doing an Irish accent in that trailer? Cause she butchered it if she was.
Anyway I agree with the first comment. I'd definitely go see it if there was a romantic relationship between Miller and Knightley! How great would that be? So I think I'll pass and spend my money on Indiana Jones instead

Meh.
Looks alright..
I suppose the film looks okay but the Welsh accents cracked me up, i dont sound like that and why do they always put sheep in everything Welsh, in Wales we dont have sheep on our door steps like in the picture above lol but i might watch it, if theres nothing else to do...
"Nobility is not a birthright. It is defined by one's actions"I guess we'll do what we
I guess we'll do what we always do and look for any nuance that could be interpreted as queer, even though it's probably not.
The girls look great in that 40s get-up though, I'll probably watch it :)

I'm going to see it!!! I am a huge Keira Knightley fan and I will see anything that she is in! It does look a lot like Atonement but I loved that movie!!
"...loving someone makes you feel that you can say 'I love you' knowing that they might not say it back..."

These two awesome women are reality and I feel so that they are so used to eachother that they can't imagine their lives without eachother. They are so amazing and the word "PERFECT" suits them the eye contact the gazing were so realistic and deep.Brr, Cillian Murphy - he
Brr, Cillian Murphy - he kind of makes me go 'eew' everytime I see him, don't know why. He totally ruined Girl with a Peal Earring for me :(
I guess judging by the comments I'll just watch the first 38 seconds and then turn it off ;)
