Jane Lynch is in high demand

The most frequently spotted lesbian in show business isn’t Lindsay Lohan – it’s in-demand, workaholic actor, Jane Lynch. According to imdb.com, Lynch’s new film, Spring Breakdown, which also stars Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch and Parker Posey, is due out this month.

Spring Breakdown is not your typical co-eds in bikinis kegger. Poehler, Dratch and Posey play thirty-something dork friends who never had their cool moment in the sun. When one of them is sent to keep an eye on her boss’s (Lynch as a conservative Senator) daughter during spring break, the trio decides it’s never too late to have a misspent youth. Or, a prolonged one. (When mine is over, I’ll let you know.) Amy, Rachel, Parker and Jane. It’s almost too much funny. And yet, the film is going straight to DVD, and not to a theater near you.

While women make up 51% of the earth’s population, we’re a niche market and we’ve already filled our female film quota for the decade with Sex and the City, Poehler’s Baby Mama and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, among others.

Anyway, Jane’s signature bone-dry hilarity can also be seen in Role Models with Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks, coming to theaters (thanks, Paul) Nov.7.

Lynch’s character, Gayle Sweeny, is an ex-druggie-turned-counselor who runs a mentoring organization called Sturdy Wings. And because there’s no such thing as taking a joke too far, Sturdy Wings has its very own website where kids can let Gayle’s life be their cautionary tale.

“You know what I used to eat for breakfast? Cocaine,” she warns them. With Spring Breakdown and Role Models due out this year, a reprisal of her character, Joyce Wischnia, for the final season of The L Word, and four other films currently in post production, it’s a wonder Jane had time to record two songs for the soundtrack of yet another one of her films, Another Cinderella Story.

Yes, she sings, too. See Jane go!
