I scream, you scream, we all scream for Paz VegaCan I just say that actress Paz Vega is hotter than Madrid in August? Although she's co-starred in numerous films in her native Spain, it wasn't until she landed the role of Flor in the James L. Brook's film, Spanglish, that American audiences got a proper introduction to Paz Speaking of hot, here's a print ad she did for Magnum ice cream bars that had Spanish conservatives hot under the collar.
Foro Español de la Familia, Spain's Catholic watchdog group, found the lesbian undertones of the ad campaign offense, which only makes me love it more.
I can't understand what the problem is. Clearly, Paz is merely trying to impart a lesson about sharing to her friend. In other ice cream news - many readers found the ice cream theme of the Jessica Alba photo downright pornographic. Personally, I didn't think the Alba shot was so offensive it qualified as porn, but I did find it a little messy. Dripping ice cream doesn't remind me of bodily fluids. Paz Vega, me dejas sin palabras...
I have been infatuated with Paz since I watched "El Otro Lado de la Cama." I highly recommend it for those of you who just need an excuse to ogle Paz. It's a modern Spanish musical, and since I hate musicals, I can't recommend the movie other than to look at Paz, but I have found I stand alone in that respect.
MAN, that woman's PERFECT.

I saw these ads last summer and had to make sure my sunglasses were on, so I wouldn't look like SUCH a fool ambling down the street with my eyes glued on the billboards. Gah! She's gorgeous.

And about the ad: In Spain things are very different. It is one of the most catholic countries in the world. The whole church protested when they legalized gay marriage with ALL the benefits. But the president confronted the church saying that the government had the obligation to protect ALL citizens rights to be equal. If they wanted to marry gay people or not, it was up to the Church, but the government reconnized the civil rights of ALL its citizens... So, the lesbian undertone is widely accepted. They have many shows with very openly gay and lesbian characters. But they still have their protesters. At least there, gay marriage is legal!

as far as i'm concerned it proves the power of advertising. the only reason i'm not on my way to buy a magnum right now is that it's almost midnight and the shop is closed! power according to Stephen Lukes is ''when A exercises power over B when A affects B in a manner contrary to B's interest''. 'A' being the advertising people and 'B' being me, to buy a magnum would not be in my best interest but I'll be damned if i don't buy one first thing tomorrow!

I know it´s already been mentioned in a couple of posts, but I must stress the importance of this movie in the history of hot spanish chicks. For everyone who is by these exquisite pictures barely being introduced to Paz Vega (aka, mamacita), please, please, pretty please take our advice and watch LUCIA Y EL SEXO. Now, if possible. This movie is the epitome of hotness a la española, Paz Vega, Najwa Nimri and Elena Anaya in a movie with sex in the title. It´s like tortilla de patatas with a cherry on top. mmm.
