RachelWatch: Good One

The Rachel Maddow Show was pre-empted Thursday night. For those who need a fix, here’s a classic clip: Rachel and the fantastic Melissa Harris-Lacewell on Michael Steele’s erstwhile attempt to get beyond the cutting edge.

Please check back Monday for a full recap of Maddow favorite Ana Marie Cox’s first shot as a guest host. Based on Ms. Cox’s past appearances on the show, it should be a treat.

So, can we assume Ms. Maddow's absence...

might have something to do with Gay Pride!?!

    As long as....

The GOP doesn't figure out that it's ever shrinking base of morons is just that: An ever shrinking base of morons. As long as the GOP continues to preach moral hypocrisey while violating the same tenets they demand everyone else stick to and as long as the GOP refuses to understand that yes people do want an educated and intelligent leader well barring the thievery of the Bush/Cheney administration we have nothing to worry about. Because unless the I.Q. of Americans dips to Palin-esque levels we are guaranteed Progressive leadership.

    Col. Taylor

I can't help myself but see Col. Taylor from "Different World" when I see Michael Steele.   But if I were to use the "Different World" scenerio as an analogy - then I guess Michael Steele would be Dwanye Wayne and Rush Limbaugh would be a mean version of Ron Johnson.  =)  anyone, anyone?!?

    "Fantastic Melissa Harris-Lacewell" is right!

She's awesome. She speaks from a position of knowledge, without being condescending. Besides I love her really genuine and very infectious smile :D

    "fantastic Melissa Harris-Lacewell"

Somebody needs to give Dr. Harris-Lacewell her own show.  I've been convinced of this fact ever since I saw her debate Gloria Steinem last year.

    Seriously, MSNBC.  Get on it.

    So true!

I've loved her since seeing her talk on Bill Moyers' Journal. She's on my list of people I'd love to meet...but I guess her own show would be good too ; )

    Ana Marie Cox won't be

Ana Marie Cox won't be hosting tonight either; MSNBC in all their infinite wisdom have pre-empted tonight's shows as well.  Sad times.  You just know she had a mountain of Sanford snark piled up.

    bummed

I was baffled this morning when my Rachel podcast didn't download, but I figured it was just late being available and I would watch when I got home.  Well, I was doubly confounded when I got home and it still wouldn't downlaod.  Frustration grew.  Then I read Dorothy Snarker's tweet that Ana Marie Cox was not filling in tonight after all, and the news got worse @ AfterEllen when I saw that Rachel wasn't going to be on tonight, either!  Urgh!!  : (  I need my fix and now no Maddow Show until Tuesday for me (always watch podcast the next day). I guess YouTube clips it will be...

    withdrawal symptoms

Came in late last night, flicked on TV, for My Rachel Maddow fix and found it usurped by a Special on Michael Jackson...arghhhh!

Yeah, I know he just died, but did it *have* to be on at Rachel's timeslot?!@#$%^&And is it true she's not going to be on till next Tuesday??? And why is Annamariecox NOT taking over her show as planned tonight?

    a remedy...

I imagine Rachel will be on Monday, I just can't watch at night because I have to get up too early for work.  Thank God for podcasts.  "Rachel to go" is a very good thing.  : )  And it turns out that MSNBC showed more Michael Jackson stuff tonight (i read at their website).  So phooey on it all!  Anyway, watching clips on YouTube of Rachel making cocktails and just being her damn sexy self will have to tide me over until she gets back on the airwaves.

    Damn.

I'd have loved to see Ana Marie hosting - perhaps in that black leather jacket.

But thanks Ali, for the heads up - I've been sadly and pointlessly clicking "refresh" on my iTunes podcasts for the past 2 days now. Do you think she'll come back next week wearing her awesome blue glasses? We can still hope. Which reminds me, I must find myself a pair like that.
