The girls of “Twin Peaks”: Where are they now?Remember when “Who killed Laura Palmer?” was the question everyone was asking? I certainly do. It was 1990 and I was a junior in college — watching television on the little black-and-white set I had in my Resident Assistant dorm room. Now, I'm not a David Lynch fan by anyone's definition, but I was captivated by Twin Peaks, at least for a while. (Then it got too supernatural and weird for me.)
I read that the 10-disc “Definitive Gold-Box Edition” of Twin Peaks was releasing this week, and the memories came rushing back. There was the haunting Julee Cruise theme song. And the incredibly tantalizing intrigue and mystery of the murder. And, of course, the bizarre dream sequence — with the giant and dwarf and Jenny being chased at the carnival. Oh, wait ... I believe I've conflated the compelling dream sequence and the stupid. Take a look at the promo for the DVD box set to have it all come rushing back. Then there was the cast! Piper Laurie and Michael Ontkean were probably the biggest names when the show began, but Kyle MacLachlan quickly made a name for himself. And, of course, there were all the girls.
For years, Sherilyn Fenn and Lara Flynn Boyle were “those girls who were on Twin Peaks.” (And they still are to a certain extent.) But all of this got me thinking about where the Twin Peaks girls are now. Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer) She made her entrance in Twin Peaks “dead, wrapped in plastic” and achieved cult status. (She was also on the show as Laura's cousin, Madeline Ferguson.)
Since Twin Peaks, Lee has worked regularly, mostly in television. In addition to numerous one-time roles, she was a regular on L.A. Doctors (Dr. Sarah Church) and she was Ellie Harp on One Tree Hill.
She's also the daughter-in-law of Neil Diamond. And, most recently, she was in the pilot of State of Mind. Lara Flynn Boyle (Donna Hayward) Donna was the late Laura Palmer's best friend. That's pretty much all I recall about her. (Twin Peaks was on a long time ago.)
Lara Flynn Boyle did not reprise the role of Donna in the feature film Twin Peaks: Firewalk With Me. (Moira Kelly took over for her.) Boyle did quite a bit of film work in the '90s, with star turns in The Temp and in the utterly horrendous Threesome. (Straight girl loves gay guy who loves straight guy who loves straight girl. They have a threesome and gay guy touches straight guy's ass. Wow.) She was a principal character (Helen Gamble) in The Practice and convincingly played a very disturbed psychiatric patient in Huff (She attacked the lovely Paget Brewster). And speaking of disturbing, Boyle dated Jack Nicholson for a couple of years. Ew.
Most recently, she played Betty McBain in Life Is Hot in Cracktown, which is scheduled for a 2008 release. Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne) Audrey was the troublemaker/femme fatale character who had amorous feelings for Agent Cooper.
A couple of years after Twin Peaks, she played a bisexual character in Three of Hearts (Ex-girlfriend (Kelly Lynch) hires male escort to break Fenn's heart to get her back — haven't we all tried that ploy at one time or another?) This was not the first time she had played lesbian-ish. In her pre–Twin Peaks days, Fenn fell in love with Joyce Hyser (in drag) in the Just One of the Guys. Fenn also replaced Kim Basinger in the disturbing Boxing Helena, which was released the same year as Three of Hearts. During the last 15 years or so, she's done a lot of TV work, including Rude Awakening, Boston Public and Gilmore Girls.
Most recently, she played Lena in Treasure Raiders. To me, however, her most definitive post–Twin Peaks work is as Ginger, Chandler's one-legged girlfriend on Friends. Whose artificial leg Joey once threw in the fireplace. Mädchen Amick (Shelley Johnson) Shelley had a complicated existence. She was married to Leo, but in love with Bobby. And she worked for Norma as a waitress at the diner. (I had a major crush on Norma.)
Since Twin Peaks, Amick has done a lot of television, including regular stints on Central Park West, Fantasy Island, ER, Joey and Freddie (which I've never heard of). Last year, she was featured on the short-lived Kidnapped.
Finally, although she was one of the full-grown women on the show, I need to give a special mention to Joan Chen — who came to American prominence via Twin Peaks. You can read Jamie Lynn's update on Chen here. Submitted by on November 1, 2007 - 4:00pm. |

I had a crush on all of them.
I remember "Twin peaks" when it repeated in full on RTE, and one of the main reasons I watched was that I hoped that all the lovely ladies mentioned above would end up in a lesbian bar next to "One eyed Jack's". I used to fantasize about a Donna+ Laura, Shelley+Norma love thing going on...a lot!
Sherilyn Fenn
I had a huge crush on her in my teen years. I watched Twin Peaks just for her. The first movie I saw her in was an 80's movie with Charlie Sheen and a possessed black car. Bad movie, gorgeous girl.
And she is still amazingly beautiful.
Twin Peaks-soooooo damn brilliant
Wow, the timing!
I've spent the last few days watching series two. I love Twin Peaks a lot.
Lara Flynn Boyle does nothing for me (then or now), but Sherilyn Fenn and Madchen Amick ... gorgeous.
Mädchen Amick
Picture of Norma...
Just to remind people just how gorgeous Peggy Lipton was and is.

The 2nd pic is a pic of Peggy back in the day on "The mod squad", a seriously beautiful woman.Memories...
I utterly loved "Twin Peaks"...I was a total peaker back in the day...And all the women were like amazing...Totally crushed on all of them...Especially Sheryl Lee; I was so angry when they killed her off a second time...
And, did you guys forget Kimmy Robertson and Heather Graham?? They were so adoreable and lovely...Sigh.
I heard recently that Sherilyn Fenn has been going thru some financial problems over an apartment she had...

Twin Peaks Forever
I could kiss whoever posted this blog. I am what you would call a Twin Peaks fanatic. I would say it's an obsession bordering on unhealthy lol but it's part of who I am. TP is literally a part of my soul. I watched it when it first came out(I was about 11/12) and have watched and rewatched it fpr almost 20 yrs, first on some crappy VHS tapes that I pretty much stole from a girl I knew(it was the one of the meanist things I've ever done but I justified it b/c it was TP!). Then FINALLY they came out on DVD. I just finished rewatching the pilot and both DVD sets, I found it to be the most comforting thing for me as I go through a difficult time.(Although I have not yet been able to bring myself to watch the last episode again b/c I find the ending so traumatic) I didn't even KNOW there was a gold box set coming out(maybe I am not as diehard a fan as I thought!?) and in a way it sucks b/c I have them all already on DVD now but will have to get that for the special features obviously.
Anyway, as for the ladies...I have always had a huge thing for Audrey/Sherilyn Fenn. Rewatching the series recently, I was even more into her. I wanted to hop through the screen and grab her lol. She is one seriously sexy lady. And in the Season 2 DVD's they do interviews w/ a bunch of the cast, and I have to say I think she comes off as the most intelligent and interesting. It's great to see that she is as smart as she is gorgeous.
Oh and also this is just an aside, but Laura Flynn Boyle also had a guest role in Ally McBeal at one point where she played a woman who had a lesbian relationship, I believe w/ Heather Locklear?
Anyway, thank you again for this, totally made my day! Oh and do you know by any chance, when exactly the gold box set is coming out?
Oct 30
The Gold Box Edition was released last tuesday. Fyi, the listed retail price is around $100+ plus, but it looks like there are some decent online sales. (I think Amazon had it for around $65.) I'm not a big enough fan to buy it, but I'm hoping to borrow it from a colleague who is. ;-)
I'm glad I made your day. :-)
thanks and here's a link for you!
Thanks, after I wrote I actually clicked on the link on your video and realized it was already out. I ordered it from Amazon last night for about $65 as you said. Yay! Also, in case anyone is interested the season 2 soundtrack of TP just came out by Angelo Badalamenti and is said to be amazing. I ordered that as well. And last but not least, I just found this link on YouTube, I thought you and other Audrey lovers might like it(oh and the other girls are in it for a min too lol). :)

I heart Twin Peaks
I LOVE Twin Peaks!
Twin Peaks!
Lordy, Ace, I had just about the same introduction to Twin Peaks as you. I remember sitting on my college friend's bed watching the first series week after week on his tiny little black & white portable TV (somehow, the lack of colour made it so much creepier). I remember him freaking out during the "Bob" episode and me being too scared to walk back up the long dark corridor to my room! And my party turn was mimicking the dwarf-dream sequence ("Sometimes-my-arms-bend-backwards..."). Ahhh, good times.
Not Only But Also
Oh, and
Sherilyn Fenn...be still my beating heart.
Why do I always fall for the bad girls?
Not Only But Also
I love twin peaks!
I never knew about this show until about a year ago. My friend and i watched the whole series every nite until it was finished because she was a twin peaks fanatic.
I definitely fell for all of the characters and for some strange reason everytime i finished watching an episode, all i wanted was a doughnut!
My favourite character was audrey. she was so hot and she always seem to have a little lesbo in her. or at least i always hoped.
p.s. don't u just love the music in the show and the title! mmmm twin peaks. lol
