Yo Majesty’s Shunda K goes it alone

I’m quite an impatient girl, so I can sympathize with out rapper Shunda K’s current plight. Recently dropped from her label, Domino Records, after the split of her trio Yo Majesty, Ms. K went rogue on the campaign trail, releasing two mega mixes by herself, for free, pretty much before the ink dried on the exit contracts. Why? Because she wanted to!

“Domino didn’t move quickly enough for me!” Shunda K said in a press release. Do you see my fist pumping in the air in the “You go girl!” manner?

In a true embodiment of her notorious outspoken nature, Shunda’s making the most of her newfound freedom via 42 new tracks. This is a massive gain for her diehard supporters, because now I have 42 reasons to write to you. Divvied up into two aptly named mixes — Best Eva Written and Kollaborations — Shunda’s standing true to her convictions, which should come to no surprise, being she’s stood true to herself even amidst her staunch religious upbringing.

  • Aubrey O’Day turns down "A Shot at Love"

Since the beginning of reality television, dating shows have always been sublimely popular. Thanks to Chuck Woolery and The Dating Game, many shows throughout the past few decades have capitalized on this market. And, there are always going to be people who want to find love and get their 15 minutes at the same time.

Though Studs and Singled Out may be off the air, there’s a whole new generation of Bachelors, Bachelorettes, and Cougars who are willing to endure the possible heartbreak and humiliation with the possibility of “true love." But what about people that might want to find love without so many straight parameters?

MTV has since created shows like Flavor of Love, I Love New York, Rock of Love/Rock of Love Bus, Real Chance at Love, Daisy of Love, A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, and A Double Shot at Love (I think I’m missing some, but I’m sure I’ve seen all of the reunion shows) have been more open about casting people of all races and sexual orientation with openly bisexual suitors (Rock of Love Bus’s Ashley) and budding bromances in speedos (I Love New York’s 12 Pack and Heat). A Shot at Love featured the first openly bisexual contestant, Tila Tequila, dating both men and women in hopes of finding love.

On season four in this franchise, Making the Band’s Danity Kane ex-pat Aubrey O’Day has been rumored to be looking to find her Shot at Love as the franchise’s next bisexual bachelorette.

Sarah Haskins wants women to rename their ladyparts

Nicknames for male genitalia are vast and furious, and if you’ve seen Superbad you can certainly attest to the amount of laughs incited by penis humor. Guys have been at it for years — making their junk front-page news and a long-time center of comedy.

Aside from modern Seth Rogen flicks, epic classics such as Grease 2 (do you know what a pistol is?), Pecker and Teen Witch (classic classroom antics!) have also used penis humor to their advantage. Even Jason Segel dropped trou for laughs in his self-penned flick Forgetting Sarah Marshall and let’s not get started on Sacha Baron Cohen’s popularizing of the "banana hammock."

However, when it comes to women’s parts, portrayal is a little more taboo and even unintentionally hilarious. Have you ever seen a grown man sit through a tampon commercial or cringe at the sound of the phrase “sanitary napkin”? Awkwardly amazing.

Well, us ladies have a few new champions on our side to help bring lady-part nomenclature awareness to the frontlines. Alongside Lady Gaga’s valiant effort to popularize “muffin," we’ve got Oprah and Tyra Banks endorsing the use of “Vajayjay."

    Zooey Deschanel sings for cotton

Cotton is a versatile, breathable, wonderful fabric. I might even dare to say, the fabric of my life. And, according to this new Cotton campaign, it is also the fabric of Zooey Deschanel’s life. She’s donated her vocal and musical stylings for the latest Cotton campaign, and, I have to say, the first time I saw the commercial on my TV, I hit the rewind button on my DVR more than once.

    Here’s the ad:

You’re probably thinking, “She’s so hot/cute/adorable," but my rewinding was prompted by a state of sheer confusion. “What is going on here?” was the main sentiment that came from my non-verbals and I sat in shock. I then took some time to diagnose what might have put me into aforementioned shock, and here’s what I came up with:

MTV's "The Duel 2" features four lesbian players

Starved pitbulls CT and Adam took center stage in the premiere of the second season of MTV’s The Duel 2 last week, as Bunim-Murray’s “let’s get them drunk, really drunk, with nothing to do and lots of flared tempers” formula still reigns supreme.

However, last season’s Duel was much centered on my favorite long-ponytail-sticking-out-of-her-visor lesbian, Ev.

Targeted off the bat for her “tell it like it is” attitude, she was forced to push herself to the mental and physical limits week after week against her nemesis Johnny “Bananas." She turned the tables, only to team with him in the end and win all the guts and glory. (Can I get a “HOO-RAH"?)
