Latifah offers Life Support
The film was an Official Selection at Sundance a couple of months ago. It's sort of half fiction, half documentary -- many of the "characters" are women from the Brooklyn HIV/AIDS community. Things like this have a tendency to turn into melodrama and public service announcements, but in this case, who cares? The incidence of HIV/AIDS is skyrocketing among African-American women, so Life Support deserves kudos for drawing attention to the crisis. The HBO site includes an interview with Latifah, a trailer and other clips, and links to resources. Submitted by on March 8, 2007 - 7:11pm. |

Tomorrow night is the premiere of
I just got done watching
Kudos to Latifah
I've not seen it yet, but I caught an interview with Latifah on The View (the one time I tune in, how's that for timing?). I was touched that she wasnt' just some actress who took on a role, she could connect with those who were in Life Support and it was great to see she took it seriously, as she's done with a lot of her roles! I can't wait to locate a DVD of Life Support and watch it.
A little of track, but if you like Lahtifah, watch a movie called Taxi. If you can endure Jimmy Fallon being a combination of his SNL characters, sometimes all at once, then it's a fantastic movie!
Taxi is hillarious
I like that movie and the vilains were...ehem...quite a feast to these poor eyes
