Between rock and a soft place

Rasputina is an NYC-based band formed by front woman Melora Creager in 1992. I can honestly say that the band defies description. I mean, how do you categorize a group as "rock" when it's centered on cellos? I'm compelled by the chaos theory to add that there's a mysteriously powerful and oddly alluring quality to a woman and her cello. Not unlike a girl and her pony, but that's a whole other story.
