"Studio 60" on the verge of cancellation?
NBC issued a press release this morning announcing that both Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and 30 Rock would be going on hiatus in March to make room for new series (The Black Donnellys and Andy Barker P.I., respectively). The release stated that 30 Rock would be back in April, but said Studio 60 "will return later this season on a date to be determined." Hmmm. Is this the beginning...er, the middle of the end for Studio 60? Entertainment Weekly's PopWatch blogger thinks so. I'm guessing NBC may wait to see how the new shows do before deciding. As much as I've been frustrated with the show at times, I really do hope it stays around, if for no other reason than to give me a weekly dose of Sarah Paulson. And I have to admit, I'm still a fan of Oh, and 30 Rock? You better bring it back, NBC, or my bi-curious shoes are going to walk all over you. Submitted by on February 4, 2007 - 11:00pm. |

Noooo! Its such a great show!
GAH! Another good show on the verge of cancellation. This stirs up horrible memories of my TV show Once and Again being canceled.
Speaking of which...we need a dvd release for that third season, preferably soon.
I hope Studio 60 stays...
I've been holding off on writing about this news because I didn't want it to become a self fulfilling prophecy. Because me an denial, we're old friends. Oh yeah, we go wayyyy back.
Though, I have to say last night's show was a bit of a mess. The pitch was off, the tone was everywhere. And watching couples fight is almost as fun as actually being in a fight yourself. I'm a big fan of Studio 60, but this episode was a bit like Matt's joke. It fell flat. Sigh.
f#ck that! stupid nbc. (...shakes fist angrily and stalks around room muttering unmentionalbe threats aimed towards whoever...)
Gah... I love this show! I will be severely upset if it is cancelled.
rumors swirl - but it's true and has been on the verge since its third episode
i agree with d. snarker - last night's episode blew, almost as if the writers have given up.
This show is just terrible and this comes from a worshipper of all things Sorkin. I hope they cancel it and Sorkin pulls his head out of his ass and makes something good and topical instead of this treacly mess about the all important world of a SNL ripoff. With the creativity shown so far in this show, I'm surprised they didn't just call it Friday Night Live.
Too horrible to live on in tv land. Kill it!
Well...once again a fairly intelligent show like "Studio 60..." gets pulled and a not so intelligent show like "deal or no deal" stays because of numbers.
Granted the last two episodes were not as good, but not every episode can be great.
I for one will be sorry to see it go. I really like the characters and I've always liked the actors.
Besides what else is there Mondays at 10pm on broadcast TV?
Peace
Studio 60 has been one of the season's biggest disappointments. The writing gets worse with each progressive episode. This sloppy, soppy mess is a waste of a great acting ensemble. The opposite, however, can be said of 30 Rock. It is smartly written, well-acted, and it has Tina Fey. What's not to like?
