Black lesbian couple found murdered in Texas

24-year-olds Crystal Jackson and Britney Crosby were brutally murdered over the weekend in Port Bolivar, Texas. The couple disappeared on Wednesday of last week before taking a trip to Galveston for Mardi Gras, and were not heard from again. It wasn’t until Friday their bodies were discovered next to a convenience store, their recently purchased 2006 Kia Sorrento missing.

The families of these young women want answers, and so do we. Reports of how they were killed are not specific, other than saying “they were killed in different ways, and it’s possible the suspects murdered them elsewhere and moved their bodies.”

This tragic news comes just a little more than a year after the shooting of Kristene Chapa and Mollie Judith Olgin in a small town outside of Corpus Christi. That incident left Kristene struggling for life while her girlfriend, Mollie, died instantly. While 19-year-old Kristine is still trying to recover the abilities to participate activities of daily living (she was shot in the head), she is mourning the loss while waiting for the killer to be found.

“I want them to hurry up and find the person because … there are still times where I find myself scared, wondering if they’re going to come after me,” Kristene told NBC News last June. “I’m always looking around, seeing if I recognize anyone. There’s still a part of me that’s scared.”

While both of these senseless acts have yet to be classified as hate crimes, it’s chilling that lesbian couples were targeted. Since the story of the deaths of Crystal and Britney is still developing, we’re hopeful there will be more updates quickly following. KHOU of Houston last reported that there was a lead based on one of the women’s debit cards being used on Saturday, and a sketch of a suspect has been released. Let’s hope this helps connect the dots and lead to justice for these women.
