Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever. (September 29, 2006)

FROM 40-YEAR OLD VIRGIN TO 11-YEAR-OLD MOTHER
Jane Lynch has joined the untitled mid-season CBS comedy that stars Christine Taylor (Dodgeball, The Brady Bunch) as a successful Hollywood actress who comes from a small town and has a lot of relatives still very involved in her life. Lynch will play her mother. Yes, Lynch is only 11 years older than Taylor. Only in Hollywood.

SEVENTEEN LESBIAN KILLERS (AND A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE?)
In their November issue, Seventeen magazine has an article about two 15-year-old girls who killed one of the girl's grandparents because they wanted to keep the girls apart. What's the headline? Take a look:

Not "Girls Gone Wild" or "Teen Killers" or even "Killers with Poor Dental Hygiene" but "Lesbian Killers". In Big Red Letters. I'm surprised they didn't include a photo of Sharon Stone holding an ice pick, just to drive the point home.

Seventeen has run positive stories about lesbian and bisexual teens before, so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume someone accidentally let the editor's 15-year-old nephew come up with this title.

GRATUITOUS, UNSUBSTANTIATED CELEBRITY LESBIAN QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Supermodel" Janice Dickinson on Angelina Jolie: "She's gorgeous. She could have my babies. I'd do her in a heartbeat!"

IF I'D CALLED HER HOTLINE, I WOULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING
Miss Cleo (nee Youree Dell Cleomili Harris), the Jamaican-accented psychic from the famous late-night infomercial with the catchphrase"The cards never lie!", has come out in The Advocate. "I've been afraid of the wrath, of the exile. When I came out to a number of friends in the late '80s, I had a number of friends who turned their backs on me and walked away. That was really intense."

No word yet on whether Miss Cleo will now start pitching her psychic gifts specifically to the LGBT community. Maybe she can tell us what's really going on over at Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!
According to TV Guide's Ask Ausiello, Portia de Rossi reportedly turned down a new series-regular role as an expert profiler on the CBS drama Criminal Minds. But when plans for Sirens on a Plane fell through, Portia was overheard saying, "I've made a huge mistake."

New seasons of South of Nowhere and Degrassi start tonight on The N — look for Karman's recaps of SON's second season starting this Monday. Speaking of South of Nowhere, GLAAD teamed up with the cast of SON to film a PSA saying it's okay to be gay. That's so 21st century.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are two straight women having a baby together in Baby Mama. Looks like these two are still working out their lesbian issues.

That's it for this week! Check back next Friday for a new installment of Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever. or read past installments here.
