NBC’s hit cop procedural, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit or as I like to call it, The Mariska Hargitay Show — kicks off its 10th season next week with an episode called "Trials."

The guest star? Out actress and baby mama, Sara Gilbert, who recently (unfortunately) joined the cast of CBS’s The Big Bang Theory.

The plot of the season premiere, which airs Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 10 p.m. ET, involves Hargitay’s Detective Olivia Benson, and her partner, Elliot Stabler (the versatile and always awesome Chris Meloni) investigating a child’s claims of abuse by his foster parents, played by Julie Bowen (Weeds, Boston Legal) and Luke Perry (Beverly Hills, 90210, Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

Between changing from her signature look — a solid colored, button-down shirt — to her other signature look — a white T-shirt under a V-neck sweater — Det. Benson follows clues that lead her to an unsolved rape involving Sara Gilbert’s character, Kaitlyn Murphy, who also happens to be the foster kid’s birth mother.

That is not the look I’d have on my face if Mariska Hargitay came knocking on my door, but that’s just me.

Season 10 also introduces Michaela McManus (One Tree Hill) as Assistant District Attorney Kim Greylek, the latest babe-wielding-a-brief to emerge from that office’s revolving door.

Past SVU assistant DAs have included Stephanie March (Alexandra Cabot), Diane Neal (Casey Novak) and America’s hottest Republican, Angie Harmon (Abbie Carmichael).

Whatever I’m accused of, I’d like to plead guilty and throw myself at the mercy of the court.
