Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever. (November 3, 2006)

ALL MY CHEATING GIRLFRIENDS
BiancaThe question of whether Bianca and Maggie became more than friends when they moved to Paris together was finally answered once and for all this week when Bianca (Eden Riegel) confessed that she recently discovered Maggie has been cheating on her. Now that she’s discovered the love that dare not speaks it name, Maggie apparently wants to sow her wild bisexual oats. “I’m hurt, and lost, and really, really angry,” said viewers Bianca, who nonetheless admitted that “if [Maggie] walked through that door right now, I would take her back”.

Don’t get your hopes up, Bianca – lesbians on All My Children aren’t actually allowed to have relationships. At least, not with a woman in the same country.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
In an October 17th interview with Tom Ashbrook on NPR’s “On Point”, Annie Leibowitz finally publicly acknowledged that she and the late Susan Sontag were romantically involved. In the last fifteen minutes of the hour-long interview, Ashbrook asked Leibowitz directly why she kept using vague terms like "companian" to describe Sontag, instead of more specific ones like "partner" or "lover". Leibowitz finally said that “lover” was fine with her. This acknowledgement is notable because there has been much debate in the press as to whether Sontag and Leibowitz were more than just friends; when Sontag died in December of 2004, most of the obituaries neglected to mention her relationship with Leibowitz.

JUST PUT US HER OUT OF HER MISERY ALREADY!
When asked this week about the rumors that lesbian character Kerry Weaver was going to be fired from the ER, TV Guide’s Ausiello would say only that “Kerry's job will certainly be in jeopardy when a new round of budget cuts forces Kovac to make a very difficult decision.”

AND THE WINNER OF BIGGEST WASTE OF A LESBIAN IS…
Degrassi: The Next Generation has achieved a new TV low: we're almost halfway through the new season, and newly-out Alex (Deanna Casaluce) has only been shown once – in the first episode, where she uttered one sentence. She makes Kerry Weaver look like ER's narrative linchpin.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!
There's a new South of Nowhere episode tonight – watch the new sexy Spashley promo here.

Conservative Republican “family values” Senatorial candidate Bob Corker’s campaign is taking a hit now that a photo of his daughter kissing another girl is all over in the press.

Sony's new gay music label Music with a Twist has signed its first two artists – Kirsten Price and The Gossip.

The trailer is available now for the upcoming lesbian movie Changing Spots, starring Danielle Egnew. Possible marketing slogan: “Watch this movie or the lesbian will drown!”

This week on our daily pop culture blog, Alanis makes a convincing bossy lesbian, Scribe Grrrl lists the horror movies that make her feel gay, Malinda wants the cheerleader to save herself, and I have mixed feelings about Tom Cruise. Along with every other women in the world, apparently.

That's it for this week! Check back next Friday for a new installment of Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever. or read past installments here.
