Don't Quote Me: Truth, Lies, and Textbooks (page 4)

The bottom line is this: These people are terrified that their kids will one day get off a school bus and say something like, “I didn't know that the woman who wrote America, The Beautiful was a lesbian, mommy. You told me that lesbians are un-American child molesters who hate God. She sang about America and God. She was a nice lady. Why did you lie, mommy? Why did you lie?”

That's their nightmare.

And they have to stop it from coming true any way they can. So the lies get bigger and more outrageous, and the old lies give birth to new ones. And soon the lies of one family find comfort in the lies of another family, and another, and another, and another, until agreement is born to an entire group. And then the lies of a community become more important than the truths and liberties of all the citizens of a state or a country. And before you know it people are protesting in the streets over … unisex bathrooms.

Hit it Pep…

“Ladies, all the ladies, louder now, help me out
Come on, all the ladies—let's talk about sex…”

If the bigots of the country want to continue to discredit gays and lesbians by focusing on nonsensical issues that are masked by morals and child welfare concerns but rooted solely on sex, they can do so. That's their right. But while they obsess on sex, they shouldn't be so foolish that they forget that gay people are not born of pods. Even the most “traditional” man and woman are never more than one sex act away from creating a gay child all their own — one their entire family and community can mentally and spiritually abuse and discriminate against … or, God willing, love and respect.
