BAD NEWS FOR QUEER ASIAN AMERICAN WOMEN...
First, for Sandra Oh/Cristina fans: E! Online's TV spoiler columnist Kristin stated this week that the bisexual storyline on Grey's Anatomy won't be happening this season, after all--apparently creator Shonda Rhimes has changed her mind. Damn you, Burke, Cristina is mine!...er, I mean, that's really a shame, from a strictly anthropological point of view.

Meanwhile, the theatrical release date for the Asian American family drama Red Doors (which includes a prominent lesbian relationship) has been pushed back to September. The film's producers also informed me that CBS, which has optioned the TV rights for Red Doors for 2 years, has opted not to develop the series this season, but will revisit it for mid-season and next season.

...BUT GOOD NEWS FOR INCARCERATED BRITISH LESBIANS
I've received several emails from readers this week asking why BBC America has stopped airing the popular British women's prison drama Bad Girls with only 3 episodes of the second season left. When I contacted BBC America, a representative told me he believes the show has not been canceled, just that they're delaying the episodes while they're working out some contractual issues with BBC Corporate. But he can't confirm that for me until next week, so hang on for now, Bad Girls fans, and I'll let you know once I know more.

LESBIAN ROMANCE: THE INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE OF RATINGS
In Brazil, the 1950s-era telenovela JK, which airs on the Globo channel, recently featured a storyline in which a journalist named Ana falls for a woman named Marisa, only to have her heart broken when Marisa marries a man.

Meanwhile, across the pond, UK soap Coronation Street is rumored to be joining Footballers' Wives, Eastenders, and Emmerdale in launching its own lesbian storyline soon. Seriously, what's going on over there? Clearly something's in the water. (Not to be confused with 1998's cheesy gay and lesbian movie It's In the Water, which is amusing, but not British.)

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE...
Who knows how to say, "No, there's no information yet on when South of Nowhere is coming out on DVD, but I'll list it on our DVD release page as soon as there is so please stop asking me!" in British English? Because saying it in American English clearly isn't working.

Gillery's Little Secret, the short film starring Annabeth Gish as a lesbian returning to her hometown, is now available to purchase on DVD only via this website.

Amy Irving is getting rave reviews for her starring role as lesbian poet Elizabeth Bishop in the new play A Safe Harbor for Elizabeth Bishop.

Just when I was really getting to love snarky ER doc Regina, CBS sitcom Out of Practice has been temporarily pulled from the schedule, which doesn't bode well for a second-season renewal. So far, primetime TV isn't shaping up to be very lesbian-friendly next season. Have I mentioned how much I miss Buffy?

That's it for this week! Check back next Friday for a new installment of Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever. or read past installments here.
