TV
IS POPULATED BY BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, WOMEN LOVE THE L WORD,
AND OTHER SHOCKING TRUTHS The
L Word's third season is a hit with viewers, according
to the Yahoo Buzz Index, which reported
a considerable spike recently in the number of searches related
to the series.
The
most surprising statistic? Nearly 85% of the searches are
made by women. Least surprising? The most searched-on cast
member is Kate Moennig.
Rosie
O'Donnell is a big fan of the series, and blogs
about it frequently, but she told the Philadelphia
Inquirer this week that she doesn't think she'll
be asked to be a guest-star anytime soon. "I would have
to lose 25 pounds to get on L Word," O'Donnell
said. "It seems you have to be hot and look good to be
on that show. It's the same as Dynasty--they didn't
book size-16 women, either. On QAF, I could just
be myself and fit in."
Uh,
yeah, but did you actually watch the lesbian storyline
on Queer
As Folk? It makes Jenny Schecter's storyline seem
downright riveting.
SPEAKING
OF BORINGLESBIANS
For the 2006-2007 season, ABC has ordered to pilot a new drama
called Women in Law, about a law firm run by four
women, one of whom, Pamela, is an out lesbian. And guess what?
Yes,
that's right: Pamela is pregnant. With her third
child.
What
a novel idea! What genius! This is definitely one storyline
we haven't seen done a
million times already.
Now,
I don't want to get your hopes up, but Pamela's long-term
relationship is on the rocks, and she's a lawyer, so--fingers
crossed!--there's also a really good chance she'll end up
in a long, protracted custody battle soon after she
gives birth.
It's
ground-breaking television at its finest! Someone give
these writers a raise!
Eventually,
if we're lucky, Pamela and her partner may reunite after
a couple seasons of fighting over their children, and
then decide to have another kid.
Oh,
the laughter! The tears! The joy! The pain!
I'm already starting to cry, just thinking about it.

GAY
MEN GET THEIR OWN BROADBAND CHANNEL
PlanetOut
Inc. announced this week that they've teamed up with Bravo
to create OutZoneTV.com, a broadband gay and lesbian channel
that will include streaming video content.
And
by "gay and lesbian", they mean 16 gay men and
one lesbian. Literally.
