Ha — Headmaster David and the governor-ish type find Jez hanging from the rafters at his church -- apparently Ella decided to stage it as a suicide. I don't care: I'm just thrilled by the prospect of never having to see that smug sneer again.

Medenham — Headmaster David (I'm so glad he's back) breaks the news about Jez to the students. Roxanne looks shocked; Thelma smirks. Malachi's there too, and everyone's wondering who he is. Headmaster David also welcomes back Ella, which I'm also glad about, because they all need to be in school or the entire show will lose its context. Not that it hasn't already a little, with Cassie's departure.

I almost feel sorry for Roxanne. Almost.

Malachi gives Ella a weird look, and Leon doesn't like it. Ella knows exactly who Malachi is, and doesn't like it either.

Oh, right — Headmaster David asks Roxanne about Jez. Roxanne pretends she's an innocent "school student." Meanwhile, everyone's watching the video.

Ella's room — Thelma's in her usual high spirits, rambling on about zapping Malachi. But Ella appears to be hesitating.

Thelma: "You're not having second thoughts, are you?"
Ella: "No. But I warn you: this boy's no pushover."
Thelma: "Let's hope he's not the only one."

Ella goes to the gym to work out, and of course Malachi shows up to spot her. She asks if he knows who she is; but he doesn't.

Ella: "I'm Ella Dee, last of the anointed ones. And I'm sworn to kill you."

Not until he flirts with her first, apparently.

The club — Malachi decides to make friends with Leon. He asks whether Thelma always looks so desperate. "When she's not eating, yeah," says Leon.

Leon starts to berate Malachi for Max's death, but Malachi implies that he disapproved of the whole thing, and is glad Ella's around to clean up the mess. Well then.

Thelma goes back to Medenham to tell Ella that Malachi will be coming home drunk and is thus ripe for the picking. Meanwhile, back in town, Malachi dares Leon to chat up two girls — and then Malachi promptly works his magic to make sure the girls are receptive.

Malachi: "Just a little trick I learned. And it's slightly more fun than telekinesis."

Um. Okay: where do I sign up for that?

Malachi's room, I presume — Ella shows up with her dagger. Malachi's not there, but Azazeal is. He rambles on about getting old and needing to see his son again. He makes some sort of plea for Malachi's unique free spirit.

Azazeal: "When you look at him, what do you see?"
Ella: "A demon sent to snare me."
Azazeal: "Or a perfect fit, body and soul, from the very first moment you saw him."

Oh, please. Ella, I'm much much younger than you — I don't even have a century under my belt — but I know this much: there is no perfect fit. There are lots of different fits, some very good and some just okay, but none of them perfect. Grow up.

More importantly, why the hell is Ella listening to Has-no-zeal at all?
