Half an hour later — It's time for the showdown:

Ella: "You risked our lives for a shag."
Thelma: "It wasn't like that."
Ella: "It wasn't like what? It wasn't that you let Malachi pimp you a girl? That he used you like a puppet? That you let yourself be blackmailed into betraying your friends? Well tell me, Thelma: what wasn't it like?"
Thelma: "All right, miss high and bloody mighty, so it was like that. I'm not proud of it. I made a mistake. We all make mistakes."
Ella: "Not like that, we don't."
Thelma: "Oh, so you weren't running after Malachi like some star-struck zombie, then."
Ella: "That was different."
Thelma: "Yeah, you're right. He had to go to the bother of blackmailing me. All he had to do was fuck you."

Wooo! Round one goes to Thelma.

Well then — Alex goes to Malachi's room, where Jo and Malachi are in bed again. They look up at Alex and smile, and then make room for her. Perhaps this could be one of those threesomes where the man/demon spawn gets kicked out of the bed and the women carry on? Please?

Leon sees what's going on and might be a bit jealous.

Ella's room — Thelma asks Ella how long she's got, before Ella kills Malachi and thus causes Thelma to disappear. "Not long," says Ella.

Thelma: "I feel bad about Maya, you know. She knows nothing about any of this. I think we had something really special. Doesn't seem right to leave her all alone."
Ella: "Well, you won't have to."
Thelma: "Don't tell me you fancy her."
Ella: "Maya is a creature of Malachi's. When he dies, she dies."

And Thelma cries. And she and Ella say their goodbyes. Everything rhymes! That must be part of Malachi's evil influence on the world.

That can't be comfortable — Alex sleeps, with her wrists still tied to the bed frame, while Malachi and Jo talk about what a bastard Malachi is.

Preying on the prayerful — Malachi seeks Roxanne's help for his addiction to being a bastard. Oh, I mean to sex. He says he sees a spirituality in her and knows she can help him see the light. She seems to consider it, which is probably good, because I didn't want to have to like her too much just yet.

Into the sunset — Maya and Thelma cuddle and watch the sun go down over Medenham.

Maya: "Why do beautiful things make you sad?"
Thelma: "Because deep down you know you might never see them again."

Just to prove her point, Thelma squeezes the life (er, the afterlife) out of Maya's hand. Maya tells her not to worry because she's not going anywhere. Sigh.

Maya begins to get cold, which makes Thelma start to panic and ask what kind of cold. Thelma, if you don't try to behave a little less strangely, she'll leave you even if she doesn't die.

Don't hug me when I'm wearing a knife on my back — Ella and Leon are both a little nervous as Ella gets ready to kill Malachi. Oh, and I'm not being metaphorical about the "knife on my back" — that's where Ella keeps her special dagger thingie. Presumably she has a scabbard of some sort, but you can't see it. That leather coat has its uses. Xena probably should have had a camouflaging leather coat, because everyone could see she had a sword on her back — no element of surprise whatsoever. Except for when she hurtled out of nowhere.

Ella finds Malachi in the shower (oh, great) and tries to stab him. But the dagger breaks and Malachi just sort of... glows. He seems to have some sort of personal force field he can call up. How handy.
