Nerves — With so few girls left, each upcoming panel has the girls more nervous than the last. Melrose is worried about her dance flop. CariDee knows quitting the pool shoot didn’t help her in her one and only goal in this life. Amanda wisely doesn’t want to get her hopes up, and Eugena is thinking absolutely nothing at all.
Panel — The judges assemble as usual for panel. Tyra is wearing yet another black bustier. Mmm, muy caliente. I love black bustiers. I love any bustier, but I digress. The guest judge tonight is the pool shoot photographer, David Ruiz. Tyra reviews “working with a partner” for them and then calls Melrose and Eugena up together.
After we glimpse their flamenco shots, which are so-so, Miss J. asks, “Can you two do a little dance number like you were taught to do?” Immediately, Melrose turns to Eugena and gives her an “Olé!” They goof around a little with some turns and steps, but all Nigel has to say is they didn’t face the judges. Apparently the stick he removed from his ass for the bull photo shoot has been reinserted.
Their floating swimming pool shot is nice. And happily, Eugena gets totally busted for not floating, because you can see her foot is on the floor. Hee.
Amanda and CariDee listen as the judges critique their photos. Nigel notices something disturbing about Amanda’s giant gunboat feet. The right one is pointing forward. But the left one is pointing backward. “It almost looks like a horror movie,” Nigel says. Amanda throws her left foot backward to show how easy it is. The panel is a little grossed out. Twiggy wonders if it hurts as much to do it as it does to watch.
After being forced to perform their own dance moves, Tyra and Nigel get on Amanda’s case because she can’t improvise. Tyra brags that she ad-libbed an entire dance at a Victoria's Secret show. Then Tyra and Miss J. get up to show these whippersnappers how it’s done.
Frankly, their dance sucked. But Tyra’s shoe fell off in the middle of the dance, and she modeled through it, which was the point. I suppose.
Amanda and CariDee’s pool shot looks nice. I don’t know how she does it, but on film, Amanda looks kinda cool these days. Too bad her face is framed by the tree branches she calls arms.
Deliberations — Once the girls have left the room, Nigel says Melrose seems to do no wrong, but she irks him anyway. She’s too calculating, and he hates her stupid beret. Eugena’s story is the same: She is devoid of personality and spark. CariMee, who has a natural beauty that takes a hot picture, still needs too much hand-holding and attention.
The panel unanimously loves Amanda’s “inspirational face” because it’s unconventional and looks like the “face of fashion today,” says Nigel. On the downside, they hate her body, or lack thereof. These are the same types who brought us heroin chic, so take that for what it’s worth.
Goodbye to You — The girls come back. Tyra calls Melrose. Eugena makes it by the skin of her very white teeth. CariMee and Amanda step forward together. Tyra tells them that while one is meek and young, the other is too much of a baby.
Tyra says … “Congratulations, CariDee.”
Amanda tells us: “It’s always hard when something good ends, and this was definitely something good for me. It’s over.” Tomorrow will be just like a regular day. She feels the heartache like it’s the end of a relationship. Top Model broke up with her.
If Michelle really did sacrifice herself, she only bought Amanda an extra week, but it’s a week she’ll never forget. Now she can go home and re-dock with her twin.
Next Week — The remaining three still can’t read a cue card to save their lives. It’s the season finale, so don’t miss it!
