Kalinda Sharma, played by Archie Panjabi, is one of the true mysteries of The Good Wife. What is she hiding? Is she a lesbian? Why do so many people seem to recognize her in that “uh-oh, it’s you” way?
Last season, Kalinda’s character risked becoming a bit of a cliché — she was like a P.I. superhero, rushing in to save the day with some vital information that everyone else missed. But this season has pulled back from that, slowly peeling back the layers to give us a glimpse of who she is.
For those of you who don’t yet believe that you really need to watch The Good Wife, CBS has kindly compiled a clip from the episode that had the rest of us glued to our sets last fall.
See what I mean?
The Good Wife is set in Chicago, but Panjabi had never actually visited the city until last fall, when she did a photo shoot for CBS Watch! magazine. Prepare to be very grateful to Watch.

Panjabi told Watch that she had the idea of wearing the stiletto boots we love so much. She also thought Kalinda would always wear her hear up. “It sort of symbolizes the things she holds back. Putting my hair down feels like it would be revealing too much.”
Panjabi, however, doesn’t seem to mind revealing herself. Although far be it from me to call this “too much.”

For the photo shoot, Panjabi posed in and around the Peninsula Chicago hotel, getting first-hand experience in how the Windy City got its nickname.

But braving the weather is nothing; according to costar Matt Czuchry, the actress is every bit as tough as Kalinda.
“Kalinda has nothing on Archie,” he said. “Archie’s the real badass.”
