Afternoon Delight: You, too, can smell like Fergie and Christina, Dot Jones and Chyna team up for “White T”

Good afternoon!

Heather Graham takes on Kevin Spacey in the film Father of Invention (due for release on October 14). Graham’s character is a lesbian who sleeps with Spacey’s character because, as we all know by now, lesbians in movies somehow always end up sleeping with men. This ridiculous and annoying premise is going to send me back to anger management.

The hilarious Judy Gold has extended her one-woman show, The Judy Show, through November 27. If you live in New York please go see her so I can live vicariously through you. (DR2 Theatre, 103 East 15th Street at 20 Union Square East, New York, NY 10003)

Glee scene-stealer Dot Jones and former professional wrestler Chyna have teamed up for the comedy White T. The “urban adventure” film is about twin brothers, played by Jerod and Jamal Mixon, who dream of becoming the biggest rap stars in the world. Unfortunately, Jones and Chyna only play supporting roles but I still can’t wait to see this masterpiece!

Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock stars in drama Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, based on Jonathan Safran Foer‘s best-selling novel of the same name. The film centers on a family affected by the devastating September 11 attack on the World Trade Center. Tom Hanks plays Bullock’s husband who dies in the tragedy so make sure you bring a box of tissues (or two) if you go see this film. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close will have a limited release on December 25 and wide release on January 20, 2012.

Attention ladies of Vancouver! Melissa Ferrick will be performing on Wednesday, October 12 at 8 p.m. at The Media Club (695 Cambie St).

Tomorrow night, lesbian comedian Wanda Sykes will headline the IP Casino Resort and Spa in Biloxi, MS. Tickets are still available for the 8 p.m. show.

Out musician Samantha Ronson is encouraging everyone to own their own color. UNICEF is selling colors of the rainbow (is that legal?) to raise money for children in need. Ronson purchased a pretty pink color. What’s your favorite hue?

Maya Rudolph stars in NBC’s new comedy Up All Night. Check out Rudolph’s awesome music video from last night’s episode. I love her!

Emma Stone’s crime drama The Gangster Squad has been slated for an October 19, 2012 release by Warner Brothers. The film also stars Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin but, lets be real, I’m only going to see it because of Stone.

Over the summer, pop star Li Na became the first mainland Chinese celebrity to participate in the It Gets Better Campaign. Since I don’t speak the language, I have no idea what the 28-year-old said, in her video but I assume it’s something like, “Being gay is super duper cool so keep at it!”

Zany fashion designer Betsey Johnson is offering up to 70% off of her merchandize for Breast Cancer Awareness. My family has a history of breast cancer and I have a history of spending too much at the Betsey Johnson store on Melrose so I’ll definitely be purchasing a limited edition breast cancer awareness bundle. For $150 you get a tank top, tote bag, a pair of gloves and a two pairs of socks. (It’s not that I’m a shopaholic, I just want to fight the disease!)

Want to smell like Christina Aguilera? Then check out her perfume “Royal Desire, which will allegedly make you “feel like a Queen.” Are we talking Queen Elizabeth or Freddie Mercury?

Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie is also hawking her fragrance, “Outspoken.” Fergie describes her scent as, “a provocative blend of sexy confidence and daring femininity that captures the thrill and excitement of being center stage.”

On last night’s The Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert featured a fake lesbian sex hotline (1-888-NORS-LEZ) for lesbians of Nordic descent. Do you think this is funny? I do like her helmet.

Do you send out holiday cards? If so, consider buying them from Teazled.com, an LGBT-specific greeting card company. Teazled was created by a Las Vegas-based married lesbian couple (both nurses named Dina) because as Dina Proto puts it, “[We] felt a void looking for a greeting card to express our feelings during life’s special occasions, only to have to edit the available selection. We understand non-traditional families share the same traditional bonds of love and respect. We want the non-traditional family to be able to celebrate those meaningful moments, express their innermost thoughts and communicate with those they cherish.” Teazled offers greeting cards for 25 different occasions, including coming out and the recent repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

The Real L Word‘s Romi Klinger is on the cover of Go Magazine. Look at all of that jewelry! It must take her a long time to prep for the airport security line.
