Afternoon Delight: Tig Notaro is staying away from Twitter, Sarah Shahi’s new movie

Happy birthday to Meredith Baxter! The out actress and author turns 64 today. My favorite Baxter moment is when she came aboard the Love Boat for the series premiere back in 1977. Check out the clip below, in which she plays a reformed pin-up girl.

That Julie McCoy is so resourceful!

Wonder Woman might not be headed to the small screen but it might be on its way to the big screen. Director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) wants to take a stab at the action adventure film and he’d cast Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks as the superheroine and invisible plane owner. Refn recently worked with Hendricks on Drive and he told Vulture, “If I get to do it, she’s going to be it.” Hendricks is eager and willing to save the fictitious world from danger. Last year she told Collider. “I’ve been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life.” I could see Hendricks in that red and blue leotard, although there would need to be a few dozen sports bras added by the costume designer.

E! has joined the Brittana love fest! The Glee couple (and this year’s Hot 100 list winner and runner-up) are in first place for the "Best Couples" contest. Glee’s Kurt and Blaine are in second place. Make sure you vote to keep Brittana on top!

Cycle 17 of America’s Next Top Model premieres on September 14, and this "All-Star" edition will include Isis King from Cycle 11 (the first transgender contestant to appear on the show) and out lesbian model Kayla Ferrel from Cycle 15. Wet Paint has posted a gallery of the contestants along with their predictions as to how each will fare in the competition.

Also featured in the All-Stars battle will be Lisa D’Amato, the crazy eccentric model from Cycle 5 who peed in her diaper during an infamous shoot with the guys from Jackass. That is what I call quality television!

Antigone Rising founder Kristen Henderson has written a thoughtful blog post about some of the more bigoted voices in the Marriage Equality debate in New York and how they have reminded her of what it was like growing up gay.

Variety is reporting that The L Word vet Sarah Shahi will co-star with Sylvester Stallone in the film adaptation of the graphic novel Bullet to the Head. Shahi has been cast as the daughter of Stallone, who plays a New Orleans hitman. I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather see her play his daughter than his girlfriend/wife! Hmm, I wonder if Bullet to the Head is going to be violent?

You can listen to Melissa Etheridge‘s new radio show online at radio station KNLT’s website, Mon-Fri, from 7 pm to Midnight (AK Standard Time).

Comic Tig Notaro recently talked to The Hairpin about her pilot for Logo, her upcoming comedy album Good One and why she’s staying away from Twitter. Here’s an excerpt:

With some comedians, there can be a generic tone and delivery that develops in their stand-up and its really a problem, because obviously those comics can’t hear themselves. And believe it or not, there is now a generic Twitter delivery in tweets. It makes me cringe. Twitter is so over-saturated and NOT ALL, but many comics Twitter delivery starts to sound the same due to the limited number of characters allowed. I just don’t want to fall into that. And aside from that, I prefer to just send mass texts to everyone in my cell phone at odd hours of the day saying things like, “Dear guy sitting next to me on the bus, we get it, you haven’t showered in your entire adult life! Quit showing off and start showering off!” or “I just had lunch with my celebrity friend and we are now going to yoga!” or “I’m with all of my favorite people! Having the time of my life!” or “At the grocery store. should I buy 1-ply or 2-ply toilet paper? Any suggestions? And why?”

Lesbian/Bi Video of the Day:

Thankfully new episodes of True Blood, starring out actress Anna Paquin, will be returning to HBO this Sunday, June 26. If you’re not an avid viewer of the brilliant award winning sexy vampire series below are the cliff notes of the entire history of the show in this five minute video.
