Afternoon Delight: Santana’s summer plans and Jane Lynch’s new PSA

Good afternoon!

Now that Glee‘s season has wrapped, The Hollywood Reporter asked Naya Rivera (aka Santana) what’s in store for her character’s summer vacation.

Rivera said, “Hopefully [Santana] won’t get anymore plastic surgery! She’d probably go visit her people in Puerto Rico and she’d definitely try and take Brittany. For sure.” Heather Morris (Brittany) added, “I imagine Brittany always taking a family vacation; maybe they go hike the Grand Canyon.”

The Grand Canyon? Can I come?

As Charlie’s Angels gets ready to hit the small screen, Lucy Liu tells E!Online she will not return as an angel on the big screen. Liu, who played the sexy and crafty Alex Monday in the mega-blockbuster Angels films, confirmed, “I think we did our fair share in the two movies, so I think I’m going to leave it up to the new girls.” Liu can go the way of the dodo, but I desperately want Cameron Diaz to reprise her role as Natalie Cook.

The lovely and amazing Adele recently discussed her stage fright with the UK’s The Independent News. She told them, “I will not do festivals. The thought of an audience that big frightens the life out of me. I don’t think the music would work either. It’s all too slow.” Adele also spoke out against selling out, “I think it’s shameful when you sell out. It depends what kind of artist you wanna be but I don’t want my name anywhere near another brand. I don’t wanna be tainted or haunted.” I love this woman!

Today, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval signed into law AB211, a bill that will protect transgender employees in the workplace. Nevada is the 14th U.S. state to provide protections based on gender identity or expression.

Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese said of today’s victory, “We thank Governor Sandoval for standing up for all Nevadans. Moving forward, employment decisions in Nevada must be made on the basis of merit, not an employee’s gender identity or expression. This is a tremendous victory for our entire community.” Now let’s all go to Vegas and celebrate!

In more political news, U.S. Senator Al Franken slammed the Minnesota state legislature for allowing a constitutional amendment prohibiting gay marriage to appear on the 2012 ballot. Franken said, “Every Minnesotan deserves dignity and equal treatment under the law, and our state’s same-sex couples should have the same right to marry as anyone else – period. This amendment would do nothing more than write discrimination into our state’s constitution and add to the barriers same-sex couples already face to the full recognition of their families. I’m hopeful that common sense and compassion will prevail and that this amendment will be defeated.”

Glee‘s Jane Lynch (hopefully she’ll also be this year’s Emmy Awards show host) teamed up with the R-word.org for a PSA called “Spread the Word to End the Word.” The star urges everyone to stop using the offensive “R-word.” Lynch tells us, “The R-word is the same as every minority slur treat it that way and don’t use it.”
