Afternoon Delight: Rosie O’Donnell has a new girlfriend, Melissa Etheridge praises “The Voice” for being gay-inclusive

Good afternoon!

Happy birthday to Pariah producer Nekisa Cooper!

Last night Rosie O’Donnell stepped out with a new lady on her arm, girlfriend Michelle Rounds. Rounds, a corporate headhunter for an IT company, posed on the red-carpet with O’Donnell for the annual Rosie Theater Kids Gala in New York City. The event was attended by Oprah Winfrey’s right hand woman Gayle King, out actress Cynthia Nixon and But I’m a Cheerleader‘s Natasha Lyonne.

Congratulations to Glee‘s Naya Rivera, who won the NCLR Alma Award for Favorite Female Music Artist. The NCLR Alma Awards recognizes “entertainers who promote a proactive image of Hispanic culture.”

Mulholland Drive‘s Naomi Watts stars in Clint Eastwood’s biopic J. Edgar, penned by out screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (Milk). Watts shares the screen with Leonardo DiCaprio and Dame Judi Dench.

On a side note, I think David Lynch should make Mulholland Drive 2, with more lesbian sex scenes and an explanation of what the hell happened in the first film.

The lovely pixie-haired Michelle Williams is on the cover of hobo magazine. Either Williams is smelling her finger or she’s in deep thought. Or both.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, lesbian rocker Melissa Etheridge spoke about gay representation on reality shows and praised NBC’s The Voice.

Etheridge said, “That’s what The Voice is about. You hear the voice first before you make the judgment. I love that with the Beverly [McClellan] girl… a bald, pierced, tattoo, kilt-wearing dyke. And she’s got this great voice, and you hear the voice first and then your eyes make the judgment.”

Personally, I wish that The Voice didn’t reveal the contestants until the finale so the audience would solely be voting on talent rather than packaging.

Bridesmaids‘ Melissa McCarthy (aka Marbles Hargrove) won her first Emmy award on Sunday night and has just sold a comedy script to CBS. Wow, she’s having a really great week. McCarthy will co-write and co-produce the new untitled series about a woman in her mid-40s facing a midlife crisis. Whatever McCarthy is selling I’m buying.

I’m a big fan of Brad Pitt, maybe because he donated $100,000 to fight California’s Proposition 8 – or maybe because he looked like a lesbian in Legends of the Fall. During an interview with Parade, Pitt once again spoke out in support of gay marriage.

Pitt said, “It is an amazing thing that New York has finally gotten same-sex marriage. But the real problem is that the federal government hides behind states on this issue. It is blatant, ugly bigotry, and the federal government shouldn’t be doing that. You’re denying some Americans the right that all Americans have, to live their lives as they choose.”

Tomorrow k.d. lang will appear on The View with crooner Tony Bennett, Chaz Bono will stops by CBS’ The Talk and Jane Lynch heads over to Live with Regis and Kelly.

Tonight Iron Chef Cat Cora will be joining the Macy Chefs A-Go-Go at 5:30pm in Santa Monica, CA. Cora will be cooking some of her signature recipes at the Santa Monica Food Truck Lot (2612 Main St.) and although Cora’s dishes are free donations will be collected for Feeding America.
