Good afternoon, happy Friday, and happy Earth Day!
This morning E! News reported that Angelina Jolie will be the new face of Louis Vuitton. (What about her body?) The worldwide print campaign, for which Jolie is getting paid “close to $10 million,” will be shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz and debut this summer.
Bisexual actress Megan Fox has a full plate these days while shooting numerous films. Fox has signed on to Judd Apatow’s new untitled project (alongside Apatow’s staples Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd) and the thriller The Crossing, about a young couple vacationing in Mexico who get caught up in a drug trafficking scheme. Don’t you hate when that happens?
The Fox movie I’m most anticipating is Friends with Kids starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Samantha Bee and directed by Kissing Jessica Stein actress Jennifer Westfeldt. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until 2012 to see it!
The LGBT community has a new ally. Rapper Lil B has been receiving death threats for titling his latest album I’m Gay. Lil B claims the title refers to himself as “gay” as in “happy” or “content.” So if I’m a happy gay person should I refer to myself as a “gay gay?” Lil B spoke out to MTV News about the backlash from his album title.
People been hitting me up like, ‘I’m gonna bash your head in,’ ‘you f—-t,’ ‘I’m gonna kill you.’ I got major love for the gay and lesbian community, and I just want to push less separation and that’s why I’m doing it. I hope GLAAD sees that I’m taking initial steps to break barriers.
A spokesperson for GLAAD told XXLMag, “As a lyricist, Lil B knows that words matter. Slurs have the power to fuel intolerance. We hope that Lil B’s album title is not just a gimmick, and is really a sincere attempt to be an ally. He has the platform and the voice. We hope he uses it in a positive way.” The 23-year old rapper is not backing down on this issue, “I’m not gonna stop and I’m not scared of anyone on earth. That’s why I did it and nobody gonna stop me.” What do you think Lil B’s album’s title?
Lady Gaga gave Weird Al Yankovic a big thumbs up for his parody of her song “Born This Way.” His version is called “Perform This Way.” Yankovic took to his blog and explained that he was told by Gaga’s manager that he could not release his song because Gaga did not approve. Gaga’s manager later apologized claiming Gaga never heard the song and that he nixed Al’s version without Gaga‘s knowledge. In the end, Gaga found out about all the drama, loves the song, and gave Yankovic her permission to release it as the first single off his upcoming album. Yankovic plans to donate all the proceeds from his parody to the Human Rights Campaign. I like this parody, but I prefer his Michael Jackson “I’m Bad” parody, “I’m Fat.“
Tina Fey answered the Proust questionnaire for Vanity Fair magazine and as always her answers didn’t disappoint. When asked which living person Fey despised the most she responded, “Osama bin Laden. Unless we think he’s dead by now, in which case that guy who holds up the GOD HATES FAGS sign.” Yeah, that guy is a jerk!
While visiting IMDB.com, I noticed Lena Headey’s sensual 2000 film Aberdeen is streaming in its entirety for free. Headey plays a London lawyer who works all day, parties all night and has a very complicated family life. Warning the open credits show a topless Headey so this is not suitable for work, school or people who are trying to abstain from sex.
The extended “Making of McManusLand” video is up now on the Premium Content portion of the Tellofilm site. In the video, I sit down with McManusLand director/editor Adriana Torres and discuss the ins and outs of making our mockumentary series. Tellofilms also posted a short clip of the “Making of” video on their homepage for non-subscribers.
