Afternoon Delight: Lady Gaga will have a workshop at Barneys, Julianne Moore gets “Dope”

Happy birthday to bisexual musician Vanessa Carlton (31), 90210‘s Rumer Willis (23) and the one and only Material Girl Madonna (53). Remember Madonna’s infamous (albeit lame) kiss with Britney Spears at The 2003 MTV Music Video Awards? Later Madonna explained to her daughter Lourdes, “I am the mommy pop star and she is the baby pop star, and I am kissing her to pass my energy on to her.” I passed my pop star energy to a lot of chicks in college and I want that energy back.

Lady Gaga is teaming up with Barneys New York for its 2011 holiday campaign. Starting mid-November, Barneys will dedicate their store windows to the award-winning superstar (that’s going to be one gaudy Christmas display) and the entire fifth floor of the Madison Avenue store will transform into Gaga’s Workshop. Gaga and her stylist Nicola Formichetti will be creating limited editions of candy, toys, apparel and cosmetics that will be exclusively available at Barneys, and the store will donate 25 percent of all sales from the Workshop to a charity of Lady Gaga’s choice.

Barneys CEO Mark Lee said, “Partnering with [Lady Gaga] in this unprecedented collaborative way to create the largest and most all-encompassing holiday theme that Barneys has ever mounted is a thrill. As a New York City landmark, we wanted to celebrate Lady Gaga as a fellow New Yorker and amazing talent.” And for all you Little Monsters out there, Gaga’s Workshop will also be available online on the Barneys website.

Sia has taken her We Are Born Tour to the Northwest. Tonight the out Aussie will be performing at the Winder Ballroom in Portland, OR. Tomorrow night, August 17, Sia and her over-the-top wardrobe will be at The Showbox SODO in Seattle, WA.

Exes & Ohs creator and star Michelle Paradise is lending her writing talents to the new CW show Hart of Dixie, starring The O.C.‘s Rachel Bilson. Bilson plays doctor Zoe Hart, a “fast-talking New Yorker who has it all figured out after graduating top of her class from medical school, she’ll follow in her father’s footsteps and become a cardio-thoracic surgeon.” Seriously, Bilson is supposed to be a cardio-thoracic surgeon? Can she spell cardio-thoracic? To be fair, I can’t spell cardio-thoracic without the aid of spell check. Hart of Dixie premieres Monday, September 26 at 9pm/8c.

Last night, the always outspoken Kathy Griffin sat down with Conan O’Brien and rehashed her heated encounter with anti-gay presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann.

Tonight, out comedians Erin Foley and Bruce Daniels are celebrating the fifth anniversary of their LGBT friendly comedy show Drunk on Stage at Akbar in Silverlake, CA (4356 Sunset Blvd.). I’ve never actually witnessed anyone intoxicated on stage, but the bar does have a good beer selection. Foley and Daniels promise a star-studded epic comedy show that begins at 8 p.m. and costs only $5.

The Kids Are All Right‘s Julianne Moore has teamed up with Mildred Pierce director Todd Haynes and HBO executive producers John Wells and Christine Vachon for the drama series Dope. Sounds pretty dope to me. Dope is based on Sara Gran‘s novel and takes place in New York in the 1950s. Moore will play a former heroin addict who becomes a private detective.

Black Swan‘s Natalie Portman has been offered the lead role in Adaline. The indie drama, also starring Angela Lansbury, is about a woman who is “rendered ageless after an accident.” Portman’s manager hasn’t confirmed if the Academy Award- winning actress will play the immortal Adaline, but we’ll keep you posted.

Actress Lindsay Lohan has taken a break from the big screen but she’s still in front of the lens. The still-camera lens that is. Lohan posed for photographer Tyler Shields‘ gruesome vampire series in her skivvies while drenched in blood. Fake blood, I assume. What do you think of Lohan’s vampire impersonation?

Although we’ve reported that Calzona will have an angst-free season on Grey’s Anatomy, the rest of the cast will be dealing with their own trials and tribulations. Check out the GA Season 8 promo:
