Afternoon Delight: Jodie defends Mel again, grab a bite on the fly with Cat Cora

Good afternoon and happy birthday America Ferrera! The Ugly Betty actress has most recently appeared as a guest star on The Good Wife. Am I the only one who was crossing my fingers (and my toes) that her character, Natalie Flores, would have a love scene with Archie Panjabi?

Director Jodie Foster keeps plugging along trying to promote her new film The Beaver but has to constantly make pit stops to defend her film’s star Mel Gibson. Check out the interview in which Foster refers to Gibson as, “an incredible professional who’s probably the most beloved actor of anyone I’ve ever worked with in the film business.”

Tina Fey flew into Los Angeles yesterday to continue her Bossypants book tour. On Tuesday night, April 19, at 8 PM, Fey will sit down with Steve Martin at the Nokia Theatre for the special event “An Evening With Tina Fey In Conversation with Steve Martin.Tickets are still available.

Out trainer Lacey Stone will appear on Bravo’s Pregnant in Heels tomorrow night at 10/9c. No, she’s not (to our knowledge) pregnant in heels, but she’ll be training a woman who is. Check out the preview clip below:

1980’s artist Tiffany has just announced that she and Debbie Gibson will be touring together this summer in a show called “Journey through the 80s.” Tiffany and Gibson will perform some of their own material and also cover songs from artists Stevie Nicks, Reba McIntyre and Guns N’ Roses.

The Coachella Musical Festival took place over the weekend and while Lady Gaga wasn’t in attendance, she sent a message via plane smoke.

Evan Rachel Wood has teamed up with actor/director George Clooney for the film The Ides of March, based on the play by Beau Willimon. The film is about “an idealistic staffer for a newbie presidential candidate gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail.” The film costars Marisa Tomei, Ryan Gosling and Clooney, who plays Governor Mike Morris. The Ides of March is due out in theaters October 14. Will you support Wood at the theater?

Congratulations lesbian activist Kelly Cassidy! The Illinois Democrats have chosen Cassidy to fill a House seat that will be vacated by Representative Harry Osterman. Cassidy is the third openly gay member of the Illinois House. Cassidy will join out Illinois representative Deborah Mell in her new position on May 16.

Speaking of Illinois, if you’re in the windy city tonight, join The L Word‘s Elizabeth Keener as she hosts the new game show “Who Knows Her Better?” The show pits a woman’s gay best friend against her husband to see who truly listens and knows her better. My money is on the gay best friend. Tickets are still available!
