The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is honoring Angelina Jolie for just being her awesome self. On November 16, Jolie will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the fifth annual Governors Awards at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center.
Muholland Drive’s Naomi Watts and Robin Wright’s erotic drama Adore hits theaters and VOD today. Watts and Wright play two mothers and life long friends who fall in love (and lust) with each other’s teenage son. I’ve seen the film and even though the sex scenes are super straight, the word “lezzo” gets thrown around quite a bit since no one can believe two adult women would want to spend so much time together without an age-appropriate man around. I mean a woman without a man has to be a lesbian, right? Plus there is mention of a childhood girl-on-girl kiss between the two women.
Jillian Michaels wants to stop the use of horse-drawn carriages in New York City. I second this movement.
Holly Hunter will team up with Al Pacino for the drama Manglehorn.
Emma Watson is GQ UK’s Woman of the Year. Our little Hermoine is all grown up.
Earlier this week, Boys Don’t Cry star Hilary Swank presented designer Michael Kors with the 2013 Couture Council Award at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
The one and only Cate Blanchett has signed on to star in David Mamet’s thriller Blackbird. Blanchett will play “a woman who travels to Los Angeles for the funeral of her grandfather, a Hollywood visual effects artist who moonlighted for U.S. special ops agencies. After his death, her grandfather’s well-kept secrets become a threat.”
On Friday, September 20, I’ll be performing a one-hour comedy show at the Reel Pride Gay & Lesbian Film Festival at the Arena Nightclub (1145 N. Fulton) in Fresno, CA.
