Afternoon Delight: Gloria Steinem hopes for “Playboy Club” boycott, Milla Jovovich gears up for “Resident Evil: Retribution”

Happy birthday to Angie Harmon! The Rizzoli & Isles star turns 39 today. D.E.B.S. actress Devon Aoki is also celebrating her 29th birthday.

The lovely Mila Kunis graces the cover of Britain’s Glamour magazine. The Black Swan actress dishes on staying positive in the negative entertainment industry and keeping her priorities straight. Kunis tells Glamour, “No one’s curing cancer in this [entertainment] industry, remember? It’s not changing the world. It’s just entertainment, an art, a form of escapism. My friends and family are my number one thing in life, but you need a healthy balance.” The September issue hits news stands on Thursday.

Madonna‘s daughter, Lourdes Leon, is only fourteen years old and she’s already an entrepreneur. Leon and her famous mother launched their Material Girl fashion line at Macy’s last year, and now Leon is heading to Macy’s beauty department. Next week Leon’s beauty line (of the same name), featuring six perfumes and an assortment of lip gloss and nail polishes, will be available for purchase for $7-$12. Leon told Teen Vogue, “I love everything that has to do with beauty! It’s always fun to get made up for a party, and it makes you feel good.” I can’t imagine having a business at such a young age. When I was fourteen, I was too busy being a child.

On August 27 in Beverly Hills, join celebrity chef Susan Feniger for Simply diVine, benefiting the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center. Feniger also serves on the board of directors of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, and is a co-chair of the Center’s annual food and wine fundraiser. Feinger says she’s excited about the upcoming event because, “It isn’t often that you can get that many amazing restaurants together in one place with such great vintners under the stars, with two of my favorite musicians [String Planet] playing.”

The food and wine tasting will begin at 8 p.m. at Two Rodeo in Beverly Hills (V.I.P. tasting starts at 6:30 p.m.). Enter to win two free tickets to the event by visiting the Simply diVine Facebook page. The deadline for entries is Friday, Aug. 19, at 12 p.m.

Get ready Resident Evil fans: Milla Jovovich is back! Jovovich and director hubby Paul W.S. Anderson are set to start shooting Resident Evil: Retribution in Tokyo, Japan this October.

Earlier this week Olivia Wilde and her long luxurious hair attended the Cowboys & Aliens premiere in Berlin, Germany. How do you say “pretty” in German?

These days Wilde has a lot on her plate(s) including the upcoming drama Welcome to People co-starring Elizabeth Banks and Michelle Pfeiffer. Wilde and Banks in the same film? My prayers have been answered! Welcome to People is about a man (probably not Wilde) who is “tasked with delivering $150,000 of his deceased father’s fortune to the sister he has never met.” I hope Wilde plays the sister so I can borrow some money from her. Welcome to People does not have an official release date as of yet, but we can expect it sometime in 2012.

In a recent interview, the one and only Gloria Steinem spoke out against the NBC show The Playboy Club. Steinem said, “Clearly The Playboy Club is not going to be accurate. It was the tackiest place on earth. It was not glamorous at all.” Steinem, who is a leading women’s right activist, went undercover as a Bunny at the New York City Playboy Club in 1963 and wrote an expose about infamous club. Steinem says, “When I was working there and writing the expose, one of the things they had to change because of my expose was that they required all the Bunnies, who were just waitresses, to have an internal exam and a test for venereal disease.” Umm, gross!

Steinem wants you avert your eyes from Amber Heard‘s bunny costume and refuse to tune in to the show. Steinem said, “I expect that The Playboy Club will be a net minus and I hope people boycott it. It’s just not telling the truth about the era.”

If you’re a Steinem fan, check out her HBO documentary Gloria: In Her Own Words premiering Monday, August 15 at 9 p.m.
