TVLine is reporting that out actress Geri Jewell (Deadwood) has joined the cast of the new Fox show Alcatraz, “appearing in circa-1960s flashbacks as the eccentric sister of deputy prison warden E.B. Tiller (played by Jason Butler Harner).” Alcatraz premieres on Monday, January 16 at 8 p.m.

People magazine is speculating that bisexual actress Evan Rachel Wood might be engaged to actor Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) to which I say, “NOOOOOOOO!” Wood’s rep has not confirmed or denied the engagement so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Wood and Bell are just good friends who give each other expensive jewelry. Friends do that, right?
On Tuesday, January 24 at 5:30 a.m. PST, Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence will announce 10 of the nominees for the 84th Academy Awards. (They asked me to do it, but I’m not a morning person.)
Speaking of awards, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo might garner David Fincher the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2011. (Wow, that’s a really long award title. I hope the plaque on the statue can fit all the text.)
