Voting is open over at E! for TV’s Top Couples. Brittany and Santana (Glee) and Callie and Arizona (Grey’s Anatomy) are among the nominees, but then so are Toby and Emily from Pretty Little Liars. Go figure.
Freedom To Marry this week launched Why Marriage Matters, “the first-ever LGBT public education effort that provides web support, television ads, mailing pieces, videos and organizing tool kits free of charge to our national, state and local partners.” Part of this campaign includes a national ad buy for Valentine’s Day and a series of videos that put real names and faces on the battle for equality. This one features Maribeth and Jean, who talk about getting married and how their marriage brought them closer to their families.

The inaugural Athena Film Festival (co-sponsored by Melissa Silverstein’s Women and Hollywood and Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College) kicks off tonight and will include screenings of 20 films and conversations with actors, directors, producers, writers and other members of the film community on the Barnard campus in Morningside Heights. When we wrote about it back in January, we told you that one of the films to be screened there would be Miss Representation, a film about the media’s portrayal of women with interviews by Katie Couric, Rosario Dawson, Nancy Pelosi, Catherine Hardwicke and others.

It was recently announced that the film was acquired by Oprah Winfrey’s OWN. Sounds like a perfect fit to me!
Finally, the trailer for X-Men: First Class, starring January Jones, Rose Byrne, Zoë Kravitz and a bunch of dudes, is out.
I am inclined to prefer Rebecca Romjin to Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, but I did really love Lawrence in Winter’s Bone, so I’m torn. What do you think?
