Afternoon Delight: Dichen Lachman joins “Being Human,” Charlize Theron talks equality with Piers Morgan

Happy birthday to Ilene Chaiken! The L Word and The Real L Word creator turns 54 today. Did you know Chaiken was a coordinating producer on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?

Academy Award winner and LGBT supporter Charlize Theron sat down with Piers Morgan and spoke out in support of gay marriage. Theron is eager for same-sex marriage to be federally recognized. Join the club, Charlize!

By now everyone knows that True Blood’s gay storyline belongs to Rutina Wesleys character Tara (the sassy-mouthed former Merlotte’s bartender/ vampire captive). Vulture reached out to Wesley and asked if she was surprised about Tara’s coming out. Wesley, “It makes sense to me. I don’t think it’s all of a sudden her coming out. She’s a little more stable and calmer [this season], and the next thing she knew, love was in the air. She didn’t really know what to do with it, but to go with it.” Were you surprised that Tara came out?

Dreamwork’s comedy/horror/vampire film Fright Night (the remake from the 1985 film) stars Colin Farrell and Waking Madison’s Imogen Poots. Check out Poots’ movie poster and watch her swing her trusty labrys in theaters this fall.

Glee – The Complete 2nd Season and Glee – Season 2, Volume 2 will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 13, 2011. Extras on The Complete 2nd Season will include "a Featurette for The Making of “The Rocky Horror GleeShow,” the Exclusive Bonus Song ‘Planet, Schmanet, Janet,’ the ‘Getting Waxed With Jane Lynch’ Featurette, The Wit of Brittany, and Gleeat Comic-Con 2010. I’m thinking that the "Getting Waxed With Jane Lynch" Featurette alone will be worth the price of the collection.

I have some good news for all of you Dollhouse fans. Actress Dichen Lachman has joined the cast of SyFy’s Being Human. Variety reports that Lachman will play “Izumi, a reclusive, centuries-old vampire who causes upheaval when she returns to Boston’s vampire milieu.” I’m eager for this vampire craze to come to an end.

Speaking of Dollhouse, the show’s leading lady Eliza Dushku lends her voice to upcoming animated films Noah’s Ark: The New Beginning and Batman: Year One, in which Dushku plays Selina Kyle and Catwoman. Meow!

As Michael Bay prepares to get richer this weekend with the release of Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, E! is asking an important question, “Is Megan Fox Still the Most Interesting Thing About Transformers?” Fox isn’t even in the Dark of the Moon, but she has continuously been mentioned in the press surrounded the big budget film. She should be very happy she’s not in the newest Transformers because it’s being slammed by critics, being called “lousy” and described as having an “empty” story. Watching the movie has been compared to being “urinated upon.” That last one might be the strangest review in the history of the world. But even if Fox were in Dark Of The Moon, the story would still be lousy (although there would be some familiar eye candy on the screen to distract us).

The Washington Post is reporting that Brazilian Judge Fernando Henrique Pinto approved the nation’s first gay marriage between two men. Congratulations to the couple and to Brazil!

As mentioned in Morning Brew today, neither Vicci Martinez or Beverly McClellan won last night’s The Voice. (Although McClellan did do an amazing impression of Inspector Gadget.) After the finale the show’s host Carson Daly told The Wrap that unlike other shows (i.e. American Idol?) The Voice embraces everyone for who they are. Daly said, “The thing about ‘The Voice’ is no one knew anything about anybody. It’s not like it’s a gay friendly show on purpose … There wasn’t any bias, but we embraced the fact that the gay community was so well represented in our show, and we were very proud of that.” And we’re proud of that too.
