Afternoon Delight: Cynthia Nixon in “Wit” on Broadway, Zooey Deschanel to host “Saturday Night Live”

Out actress Cynthia Nixon is taking her talents to Broadway. Nixon stars as “Vivian Bearing, a scholar who devoted her life to academia, she must now face the irony and injustice of becoming the subject of research, facing terminal cancer” in Margaret Edson’s Wit. The play opens January 26 and runs through March 11. (Bring a box of tissues.)

It’s always uplifting to hear that a parent accepts their LGBTQ child. Chaz Bono‘s stepmother Republican congresswoman Mary Bono Mack told E!, “I love Chaz very much. I’m very proud of Chaz. I’m blessed that Chaz is my stepson. From the moment that I met him in 1984, we hit it off very well and he’s really been a blessing in my life. I think he’s happier and more comfortable now than he’s ever been. I will love him through and through and I know that he will love me.”

Last weekend lesbian beauty pageant hopeful Mollie Thomas competed in the Miss California USA beauty pageant but didn’t place in the top 20. Thomas spoke to TMZ outside West Hollywood’s The Abbey and said she’ll be back next year for the crown.
